hope you have connections, i have been quoted around $400-$500 to replace a clutch (labor only). I hope it works out for you.

How many miles were on your car?

So yeah, the shop found out what's wrong. The clutch...exploded, the flywheel needs to be machined, belts are cracked (need to be replaced), and some other stuff.

huh that's weird man. i don't know how else you could shatter a clutch as bad as you did otherwise. i though maybe you were revving the p!ss out of it and high shifting all the time. there is no way a clutch should break on you from normal commuting

'06 xB has a 1.5L engine, not the 2.4 the Gen 2s have.

Hey man, if you haven't replaced your clutch yet there is an Automotive center on main post that will let you use a lift/tools... I would be willing to help you out with installing a new clutch, if you want. Never looked under an xB before, but it cannot be THAT bad...

Also, no idea what shop you went to, but if it's the Lakewood AAMCO, shoot me a message and I will tow your car back to base tonight. Seriously. That place is in the process of getting black listed by the Army.

1st gen xb should be easier than a tC to pull tranny and axels and install clutch.....that is a good guy to offer like that.....

Didn't go to Lakewood AAMCO. Went to All Transmissions. Car works now. AER helped me out.

Good! While I was deployed a couple years ago my wife took her car to AAMCO by herself. $1,800.00 later she had a new clutch, CEL, Air Bag Light, no horn, no cruise control. They told her to fix that would probably be only another couple hundred to diagnose, and then another couple hundred to repair.

When I got home I popped off the steering wheel airbag and found the clock spring was missing, and a wire in the cruise control wiring harness had a nice clean cut right at the harness. After that, I popped the hood and found that one of the spark plugs was gapped TWICE as much as the other 3, causing a TERRIBLE mis-fire, and the CEL.

That's cool about AER though! Do you have anything different about your car so I can distinguish it from the other 1,000 xB's on post?

Medical Corps (which is off centered D and 2ID stickers on the back window. That's about it. OH! JBLM stickers on the front windshield. Most often seen at north fort. I should post pictures.... Also, what unit you in?
