Default Bought 08 XB today April 4 pics coming pg3

Ok if anyone in Seattle area owns a xB 08
can recommend what accessories I dont need?
that would be great.

I basically want to mode the xB down the road.
appearance and performance mainly. S/C
so what options should I get.

Its all up to you on what you want to do with your new car.

If you are refering to what accessories from the dealer, there isn't much you do need. I would maybe do a sunroof or the rear spoiler or items that are somewhat expensive so you can have them incorporate it into your loan.

Otherwise everything else you want to get for your new car you can get later and probably a little cheaper.

Congrats on the new xb.

IMHO. If you can afford to add options yourself it is much cheaper. However if you need to finace it with the car. Then Upgrade sound system, Strut bar, Exhust, Wheels (if they can get you something other than TRD not a big fan), Spoiler and maybe fogs. You won't be happy with TRD lowering springs so add DF 210's or Eibachs yourself. Then you will have a good start.

oh yeah I am not installing TRD USA parts. They all rebadged anyways.
thats exaclty what I need to know do I need a strut bar or spoiler?
is there a better aftermarket support for this 08 model that say my matrix xrs thats doesnt have any aftermarket support?

If I ever change my suspention I always go for Coilovers.

also is it easy to mode a manual or auto tranny xB?

They are starting to have more aftermarket parts available. Not nearly as much as for the first gen but it's getting there. I would get the spoiler from the dealer but the rest you can do aftermarket on your own. My first Gen was manual but I got lazy and got the Auto in my 2nd gen. That is a personal choice IMO.

I would also look up the Rumion on the Japanese Toyota site, if you are looking to do any true JDM mods as well. As far as stick vs auto, they released the Supercharger for the tC for the stick 1st, but other than that i couldn't tell ya. Like said above lots for the 1st gen but they are slowing catching up (few body kits avaliable now, lowering springs, grills, etc.) Good luck on your endeavor and I hope everything works out for you!

Aftermarket parts for the 08 xB are limited and in most cases still in development. You may want to wait and see what comes out. In most cases Aftermarket parts are cheaper than the dealer. IMHO It is never worth it to finance parts on a car from the dealer because you end up paying a higher price for them plus interest over however long your loan is. That is an expensive way to pay for yoru mods especially if you don’t have money.

If you plan on or ever get into the show scene the dealer parts are not worth any points and are not unique.

Not sure If you know but the xB has a release series coming out see the thread maybe something to consider https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=206344

Good luck!

kortik

well i would hold off on rims and tires if you are buying spring is around the corner and tire places have sweet sales also check the classified section on this forum for sponcer sales. this section will show you what is out on the market. just know not every company is a sponcer of this site.

also you might also want to look at getting your XB the clear 3m protector film or also known as the 3m protection bra. not the black ones people put on. this is a film that protects the front of your car. north end has a few shops who do it. dealership will charge you a fortune to do it.

also spend some time here looking at all the posts some are redundant. but other have good info.

Scion of Bellevue has a demo car with the 5axis kit. VERY sharp.

Well said Mo. There is one plus about dealer parts is a warranty, but one has to think, do any of the parts the dealer sells really need a warranty?!

Something else to keep in mind, based on the current Scion coupe model, the tC, mods will take a few years to really come out strong. The xB (Toyota bB) and xA (Toyota Ist) were both JDM models and had a huge amount of aftermarket parts that were simply shipped over and sold stateside. It was a win-win for companies because they covered the product R&D cost in Japan and now USDM sales are gravy. Now that the xB2 is being offered in Japan (Great links Kanchi) the amount of aftermarket parts will increase much faster as there is more of a chance to sell them besides the USDM market. I think a JDM front end conversion would be sick, and it is only a matter of time before someone stocks them in the US because it appears to be a direct bolt on!

The new xB's aren't the old ones, but I have driven a few of them and they are fun in their own way. Good luck with it!!

Another plus on waiting is interest rates have gone down for new car financing. Hmm I may refinance my existing loans. .
