Car show question need input
I was wondering what all of you like to see/do at a car show. I know we all like trophies, but what else makes it fun and worth going. Also is charging an entry fee for the cars out of line. I am trying to plan for our summer show and want it to really be good. I have plans for many trophies lots of catagories, free food and drink for particapants, also a goodie bag with scion swag and free t-shirt. I was also wondering if a putting contest sounds fun or how about a r/c car driving challange fastest lap time wins a cool prize. This event will be a fund raiser for our local boys and girls club. I did this last year but want this year to be even better. I had over $2500.00 of donated raffle prizes from local business. I expect that to be much larger this year. Thanks for looking. Sounds like fun already! Personally @ car shows what kills me is after the car is clean until the show is over, that long expanse of time. I would mix it up an do give-aways or activities to keep people from getting bored (not saying your car show is going to be boring).
I like having an MC...someone on the stage, welcoming people and getting everyone hyped up to show their cars, throwing t-shirts, keychains, etc. It's boring if there's nothing else going on and then all you care about is trophy time and when it will be over. We can only buff our rims for so long...as for the entry fee, I live far away but will gladly pay $20++ if it's going to be BIG, meaning lots of cars and trophy categories.
My favorite show so far, was Exposed '06. My tC was new and hardly any mods, but there were so many cars and it was a lot of fun. The coordinators really went all out with the free drinks, Krispy Kremes, and the wall of pizza! Plus after the show you could go to the baseball game. I really wanted to attend more shows and get more involved with the Scion community after that show, lol.

Car shows can get a bit boring..........but..........food..........even a movie..........video games...........prizes...........games.........these are some of the things that are good to keep them moving...........
Also charging to enter seems to be normal...........keep the cost fair...........and lots of times if it is a charity event it is even better..............charity events help the community or a cause.........
We all love trophys.........

Contact Kelly (MNScion) @ Gresham Scion. Her events are always fun she got us mini xB rc cars to race and we got to keep the xB's! She also keeps the prizes flowing and activities all around.
Those are all good ideas. Like Kanchi said, make sure there is events going on through out the show so that people aren't just sitting by their cars all day being bored and waiting for the trophy ceremony.
Another idea I saw at a show once that is fun, but may be hard to pull off here in the NW is a hop competition (cars with hydralics(spelling) trying to hop the highest). Umm, the RC car idea is good, raffles, modeling contests seems to always please crowds,... as I think of them I will write them down.

I think I would do well in a modeling contest.....I have built some really great models in my day.............the last one was a F16..........turned out very nice..........
Come on you thought I was gonna fit a bikinni............

Maybe you could hook up with Teske Design for help and/or advice in throwing a great car show. May want to check into discount lodging for thoughs who would be traveling cross state to attend, just and idea.
Entry fees are fair... 10-20 $$ and or a combo of food/toy donation and $$ etc... most of us have no prob of doing things like that
and like every1 said... something to do durring the show, other that sitting or looking at cars... cuz after a few shows with the exception of new people... we all pretty much know whats in whos cars...
maybe set up a few gambling tables,... were you gamble for raffle tickets or something? or other skill games... pop-a-shot, whack-a-mole etc

umm this is a bit too out of the way. but tricycle race would be fun but with a twist to it. 2 laps with a tire change inbetween. have a good prize for it like wheels tires or a pick of something like fog lights etc. etc.

Just kidding Cynce - You guys did throw a awesome event and did a great job planning and executing your shows..
Teske design is a great resource for information on ideas for shows... The othe ideas here are great.. Loudest exhaust would be kind of fun, or do a DB drag for stereos, Card tables for prizes would be fun, tricylce race would be interesting, but fun @ the same time too...

It isn't unusal to pay to enter a car show. I've been to ones that you don't have to pay, and the trophies were ugly. One of my favorit shows that I go to you get a free meal and a bag full of stuff. Most of it is junk but there were some useful things in there like coupons to autoparts stores, I think I got an atlas once, a little thing of oil (it was like wd-40) and other stuff like that.
r/c races sound fun, but a loudest exhaust could get annoying. A sound comp is always fun. What I like the most about shows is meeting other tuners adn seeing what they have done.

this would be hard to coordinate, but a car show/carnival but minus the rides. Vendor booths with Food, music, and carnival type games where you win car parts, detailing products, etc...they did something like that here in Port Angeles, but no games so there was nothing to do.
When I had my Mustang, there was a car show inside of an old airplane hangar and everyone got to take a picture next to an old P31 Mustang that was neat....I dunno just throwing ideas out there
