Do you mean, why can't they offer it as an option?

As stated above, it's an option at the dealership, and Scion has a certain price point then want to keep with their cars and what they offer is the best way to attain it.

You had the choice and actually *still* have the choice to get your car with a leather interior.

That's a dealer option though. Not a Scion option. Like my dealer doesn't even offer anything like that for any Scion models.

The whole point of Scion was not to have a bunch of bull about having a GS, LX, SE, Sport, or other crazy trim / performance package like other manufacturers. That way, If you want the TRD springs, you don't also need to pay for the heated seats and navigation. Everything is an option, so you buy what you want and don't have to pay for anything you don't need. I wish all manufacturers did this.

I think they don't offer leather seats as an option is that they take up a lot of storage space in the warehouse, probably wouldn't be a huge seller, and there may be shipping restrictions since they can have airbags in them.

yeah, you gotta remember, scions are purely monospec. when they're built at the factory, the only variations on the production line is manual or automatic transmission, and exterior color with the exception being the R.S. models.

but yeah, probably any dealership you buy the car from can offer you leather interior. i got it in mine, looks great, always gets compliments.

you can even order a leather interior from www.trdsparks.com. so stop whining and do work.

^^ absolutely.

a lot of people forget that, the dealerships themselves provide these options as ack154 stated.

i mean if someone is willing to pay for a set of katskins and than pay installation on top of it that's gold to a dealership.

but for scion/toyota it doesnt make sense especially considering their manufacturing senses. anyone heard of 5 s, a crazy but really good way to do away with excess inventory and reclaim money and keep prices down while making the most money.

so for every leather seat that did'nt sell as an option they would have to store and than find a wholesale buyer or destroy the excess making them lose money hand over foot.

but i can see how if you wanted this feature it would be a bummer. but that's why we MOD!!!!! because its fun to say "i did that!

just my 2 cents.

Scion was brought in by Toyota as a stepping stone for younger buyers with less money for a new car, to get them into the Toyota family. with hopes they'd move up to a Toyota on their next car, and from there, to a Lexus. Most buyers looking for a new car with leather, are gonna probably be looking at a more expensive car to start with. Cause as Vettereddie said, if a new car has leather, chances are it's gonna have every other option available, which brings the price way up. If you want leather, get a set of Clazzios or Katzskins, you can get them installed complete for about 1,200.00. or pay 400-600 for the set and do it yourself FTW!

I know Nate probably loves them now too since he bought them from me, or that is if he still drove his tC.
