Does anyone know of any Crome plating places(preferably locally) i have a crazy idea cooking up in my head.....im looking to chrome plate some plastic.....

 

from what I've heard chrome plating plastic won't work. They use and acid to plate the object which kills your plastic..

 

just the pre-clean to plate would melt the plastic. If you want metal chomed, I deal with several on a daily basis I could refer you to.

 

actually there is a place in cali i heard that was chrome plating plastic.... not sure about locally tho...but i hear you can do it....

if not check out alsa-corp pain products... they actually have a really really good chrome spray paint...

 

but but but....there has to be a way....how do they chrome plate plastic hubcaps???

 

you might want to go to home depot because they might have chrome in a can LOL

 

Must be some sort of chrome colored plastic coating.

 

hahaha unless there have been advancements on "liquid chrome" in the last few years i dont think that will work......maybe i could find some chrome tape or something....im trying to chrome plate the inside of my fog light housings....since no one makes chrome housings with crystal clear lenses, im going to try and make my own

Looks like a system to spray chrome paint.

 

that it does...lol if i had a paint shop it would be awesome....lol just need to find a place that has it....maybe locally....or i could ship out to.....

 

for inside your foglight housings, i'd try the spray can from Home Depot.

 

you can order that stuff in a spray can and have it deliverd to you...

 

on my old civic the hubcaps were flaking and turning yellow so I went down to the local freddies and got some eXtreme spray paint stuff that when I sprayed it on it looked chromed. Didn't look to bad either. Ahh the days when i didn't care about my car

 

ohh rock on! then im going to do that, lol prolly WAY cheaper than actual plating (if it could be done to plastic)

no prob.. glad i could help... i have some of their paint too.. tho i need to re-do my engine and fuse covers didnt quite turn out like i hoped... but i did get a near match on my door prop rods...

may get more of their stuff down the road

 

so i take it their finish is high quality, did you have your door prop rods painted with their paint at the burien toyota show?
