Default Fix A Flat

Wont help me. Long story short doing 80 on my way home from Astoria heard a bang and the box went sideways. I though I was dead. For those keeping score that's #2.

The panel is now open for questions.

Wow, glad you kept it on the road. How many miles on the tires? At least you have a full size spare and didn't wreck your box.

Not sure on actual mileage but less than 5k or so. I just had them rotated and filled with air at Les Schwab on Tuesday.

about 120 each. This will be covered by road hazard. Les Schwab is very good about the warranty.

It was very sideways. I was looking at the center median. Tires are Zexius Z rated from Les Schwab ( store brand I believe). Location was I-5 headed south just outside Woodland at milepost 18. There was very little room for error as I was traveling in the fast/passing lane with a couple vehicles near.

nah got lucky on the damage. Some rubber on the fender, tore out the fender liner and knocked the bumper cover back a few inches. It can all be fixed. I got lucky that it was the drivers side and I was in the far left lane so I got a little space to change the tire.

Wow! So glad you are okay!!!!

Having Les Schwab put air in might be a problem. I was having a lot of problems and wear on my Z rated Nittos until I found out that every time I was going into Discount Tire that they were overfilling the air on them. Once I took some air out things got so much better. So Les Schwab might be overfilling them causing them uneven wear. Just a thought.

ok so are you related to a cat? that is like live number two isn't it? I am glad that you are ok. That looks like the side wall completly seperated from the tread. Wow I would give them a piece of my mind, or did you hit something that caused that.

At any rate I am glad you and the box are ok, and stop driving so crazy

Any excuse to get sideways LOL

This sucks, glad you and the box are okay!

It may have just been the tire, but this is a good reminder to all of us to check our air pressure and to remember as it gets warmer out the air in the tires likes to expand so if you filled your tire when it was 40 or 50 degrees out to 32 psi as the weather gets warmer 60’s,70’s, 80’s the psi will increase. (air will expand as it gets warmer)

I had a similar experience once, we were in our van and my dad checked the air before our family trip, it was in the 90’s and about 20 minutes into the drive the tire exploded cause about $2,500 in damage to the van.

The tire might have had a slow leak. because when tires are low the side wall rub and then BOOM happens, I use to work at Les Schwab I have seen this happen a few times, I have also seen Les Schwab tires just seperate and go BOOM. either way very gald every one is ok.

This is an update. I had to purchase a new tire (at a discounted price based on tire wear WTFE). Then today I noticed the new repacement tire was low on air WTF again. So back to LS for a 3rd time in 2 weeks and find out that there was a small leak from the valve stem. How ____ed am I right now? Very. I will be calling LS on Monday to express my displeasure in this matter. Thanks for reading and the glad everyone's ok's to everybody who have responded to this thread.

Should have tried to tell then you ran over some crap to cause it to do that. I hate when they prorate crap, you always get screwed. At least you didn’t have to pay full price.

you valve stem leak caused your tire to drop to low your side walls rubbed, If you look in your pictures you can see all the rubber from the sidewall on the inside the tire that is what all the stuff was that fell out of your tire. That is the big problem with low profile tires. little leaks like that can cost. but LS should have dunked the tire to make sure there were no leaks, especially on a used tire.
