that is no reason to lay a person off. Are they thinking "he must be happier being lay off then at work?"

are they paying you too much? Company usually fire the top guys first.
I hope you find another job soon.

how many people got laid off or was it just you?
that sucks bro. if you NEED a job (as in have to have one) then there is always ACS (they suck hard, but money is money). i hope that this turns out to be a good thing and you get a better job. if you ever want to just kick it, i dont start my crap job until the 13th. so give me a call.

Are you in a "right to hire right to fire" state? Cause if not they don't have an adequate reason to fire you. All you would have to do is tell them they can't fire you because they THINK you're unhappy. Then let them know you will be talking to an attorney.

that sucks donkey ***** - i can't believe they did that to you & that is the worst excuse ever to let someone go..

i agree w/ robinsondb22 - i don't think they can legally fire/let you go for that kind of excuse so i would contact an attourney or L&I

Is it legal to be fired from a job for no good reason?
Yes. Washington is what's called an "at will" state. Businesses may fire "at will." There are no laws regarding dismissal, so businesses are not required to give warnings or follow any particular steps.

Hang in there Chris. I think the register closed today, but if not, they may be looking for people in the Seattle area, working for the Dept of Agriculture, Grain Inspection. I know that they are hiring a few in our office to get trained because of a new elevator in the area next summer. Just a thought.

I think you get 2 extensions too, like another 6 months, then like a 2 month'er. At least it's in the summer, so you can have a little vacation on unemployment....
