Default Hello Loves

Just thought id drop a line and let you guys know that I have mono. I was sick all last week with what seemed like a cold then woke up Monday feeling worst than I had and went to the doctor. They assumed it was Strep so they gave me medication and said if its not better Wednesday come back in. Well after 3 days of no sleep and feeling nauseus and 10 times worst I went back in today. I had a diferent doctor and she did a strep test which came back negative. She gave me a prescription for Predisone and Vicodin and did a mono test. She called me a couple of hours ago to inform me that it was mono. Blah. So now im stuck here out for atleast the rest of this week. Which sucks because I only have 2 days of Paid Time Off for work so that means any other days i take off is not paid. Ouch!

So anyways I hope all is well on your side and you all stay warm and healthy this 2007.

That sucks. I had mono and strep at the same time and thought I was gonna die. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Although that Predisone should help out a lot....the Vicodin too.

Aw, I hope you feel better soon. Mono is awful. I had a really, really vicious case of it when I was 15.

I will send you all the no-fever vibes (you can go back to work then.. not contagious) and get better vibes I can!

If you feel better but still feverish and bored at home... come here and I will entertain you, lol.

I havent even had a fever this whole time. One second I will be sweating to death that I change into shorts just to start chattering. I have no fever though. Work wont let me go back in this week cuz they dont want me giving it to anyone else. My doc said im atleast out till Friday AM at the very soonest. I have to go back in and see them Friday

I cant imagine strep and mono at the same time - EEK!

Yeah, I've had mono before. It sucks. Only positive thing about getting mono is that you are almost 100% guaranteed to never be able to get it again. Downside? You'll always have the ability to pass it on even though it's "dormant".

No fever? Hm... that was like the biggest thing with me. I wasn't allowed to go anywhere till it went down for a few days straight. But I would get the chills all the time... I think that was the fever going up and down and up and down and up and down.

Anyhow, I'll stop comparing symptoms, lol. Get better soon!

Yeah, it was bad. The first time I went to the doctor they said strep and gave me some antibiotics. I went home started the meds but didn't get any better after a few days so I went back again. Again, they said strep and gave me a stronger antibiotic and sent me home. A few more days passed and I was getting worse, so back to the doctor's again. They finally decided to test for mono and gave me yet another antibiotic and some steroids and sent me on my way. Two days on the 'roids and I felt awesome, 110% better, but wasn't able to back to work for about a week and a half.

Well... are you sure you don't have a fever?

If no fever... do you get up to do something but then feel so worn out from it you have to sit? I would feel fine (but the fever) and get up to walk somewhere and have to lay down. There was many times I laid down in the kitchen, on a quest for drink, where I had to lay on the floor for a while and rest... I was just that weak/tired.

If I remember right, all mono is different so who knows. Best to call your doctor and ask what he thinks. I know I had to have a signed release from my doctor to go back to school (they SO didn't want my contagious butt attending, lol).

(its snowing to beat hell right now... yay)

Well one thing is good jenna let it snow all it wants to as long as you have power.

Celica girl I hope that you get feeling better soon. I have never had it so I jsut don't know how bad it is but i have heard enough to know that I do not want it. Just rest and don't worrie about work till at least Friday like the Doc said. Give yourself a movie marathon at home and just try to enjoy the down time.

I would kill for some down time. I just don't want to be sick to have to get it, no offense or nothing, you have all my best wishes to get better

you have snow?? pics?!

well i dont have a themometer at my house so we do the hand to the head check and my parents will say you feel a lil warm but nothing to extreme. Then when ive been at the doc and they take my temperature i have no fever. It doesnt make sense though cuz of the sweating and then chills.

I have a pukey taste in my mouth and smell in my nose. It sucks

So how long could this put me outta work? since ive been on these pills I already feel a lot better than I did this morning. I would think Monday id be good to go to work but my work sent out an email saying ill be out for an extended time due to mono. THey told me they would take it week by week. so is mono that serious that you cant go back to work for a long time?

Another positive thing is that people who get mono will NEVER get Multiple Sclerosis! It's scientifically proven that 100% of people with epstein-barr will never get MS and vice-versa.

GET WELL SOON! Hey...I can't get mono from you so if you want me to do anything or run any errands...let me know!!!

That's normal for mono. The doctor said she thought I had mono because of the smell coming from me. I guess people with mono have a distinctive smell emenating from the throat. Kinda gross huh?

Wow... that's interesting and positive!

When I had mono, I was out of school for 2+ months. And about the chills and such... I'm no doctor but I'm sure that's a direct result of fever. Have someone buy you a good thermometer. And remember, if you take your temp under your arm pit, instead of your mouth, you almost always have to add a degree to the results. But double check the instructions on the box of the thermometer about that.

Oy I remember when I got mono... was my senior year in highschool and I was out for 2 weeks. Didn't have a fever or anything, but I was so tired and weak ALL the time. I'd sleep 12 hours, get up in the afternoon, and have to lay or sit down after an hour... it was the pits. Hope you kick it soon!
