well my xb is my 2nd car that im building my other car is an s14, its on hold due to crap getting stolen and a lot of other drama with the shop building it. but what ive found out in looking for sponsors for that car and the xb is you need to tell them what their roi is. return on investment. most places with give you "sponsor pricing" for a first car, if its is for a high profile racing event or something else along those lines. they dont want little stuff, they want big, like hin touring cars, or d1/fd drift cars etc... the best way to get started, is build your first car totally out of your pocket and show that you arent full of talk. once that car gets known and you start a 2nd car they will know who you are and be a little more willing to help you out. but as far as shops go, if you buy from one place over and over, talk them up they will start to give you deals. its hard is really all i can say. i have over 15k in my 240 and its not even driving yet, another 10k hopefully and it will be done, then with that i am hoping to use that as leverage for my xb.

once you go on to vendors sites you can always contact them and ask them. aem has something on their site i know but they just give discounts on products, other places you can try are megan racing, wilwood, and other smaller companies. i am currently working on a site that will be a complete build up of my xb complete wth dyno runs and everything i am doing to it, i am hoping that sponsors will like that and with a link or more to their site it provides more roi on their sponsored part on your car.

hope that helps, if you do need parts i do have connections to useually get good deals pm me for info.

1. Everyone wants to back a winner. A car that is already winning will pull more weight than one that has little to no note worthy accomplishments.
2. Fraudesters. A good repore counts. Being someone who is recognized and has a strong relationship with the company, its reps, etc will make it easier if you want to work out a deal. MANY companies have been burned by people who get the free product, don't run it, sell it, don't show as much as they say they will, etc etc... which makes it more difficult down the road for others to get in the door.
3. Sponsorships come out of a companies marketing budget, you have to let the company know how they will get a return on their investment in a value greater than the cost of investing in you... typically several fold greater.
4. When all else fails, it's who you know, not what you know. Knowing people in the companies or having someone you can lean on to either get sponsored or get the info about what that company is looking for will get you a mile ahead.

I think number 2 that Dave listed is the most important in all of this.
