Default Might be moving to San Francisco.

I will just get right into it I guess.

This morning I recieved a call from my boss, a phone call I thought was just a "How lay off going , just checkin in on you." kind of thing. Well I was wrong. Sure there was that round of questioning but was shortly followed up with, "How would you like helping our company start a new division much like we did up here?"

Good question at this moment because I am bored as hell being laid off. I had to ask where. He replied with "San Francisco."

I figure since I have been wanting to travel and see more of the US and the world that this might be a good start and get paid for it. Plus it looks good to my company Loy Clark Pipelines that I am willing to do what ever needs to happen to help the company expand and maybe help move me up the many teired ladder that makes up our company.

So if the plan pans out for a few of us to go down there for a 5 crew division start up, it looks like I might be moving to san fran for a bit.

If all goes as planned I will be leaving in mid jan. until april or maybe later if they need me. Well better get to doing some research on the area to be prepaired for what ever I guess.

Its a nice area, housing is expensive in the city its self. But there are a ton of really cool people down there.

If the building would be in city, your best bet is to live outside. IE Oakland, Concord area and use BART, and the public transportation to get around. They have an amazing transit system down there.

I loved living down in that area, but I found my place up here though.

If you have anything you need answered just shoot me a PM.

Don't forget Fishermans Wharf. Sounds like a great chance to, as you said, maybe further your chances for a lead position in the future. Always looks good to be willing to move/travel for the benefit of the company. Good luck and don't forget your Scion family up here. Look up the area Scion owners, I met a few in Vegas, good group.

Hope it works out for you it sounds like a great opportunity. I grew up in the Bay Area as well and it is a great place. Rents and housing are way down since California currently has an unemployment rate of over 8%. Keep in mind there is a 10% state income tax which will cut into your salary or wages, hopefully they can keep paying you as a Washington employee since it is a temporary move.

SF is a cool town to visit I would not live in the heart or within 20 miles of that city due to the high price of living I love living near Sacramento it is cheaper & only 2 hours away from the city of SF also SF has alot of fun night clubs , events & great eating spots

I was checking out house rentals online and it is pretty spendy but I figure there should be a few of us going down from up here since we rocked the start up up here, so we all could go in on a place and just car pool since it will only be for 4 months or so.
10% state tax OUCH. I will be loining a local pipefitter union down there so that will help with the tax. Hopfully
I do want to check out all of the cool stuff down there and have already contacted a few Scion folks down there to hang with.

I hope it works, I have been in need of a change from the norm.

GL with that man. Hope it works out if ya go. It will be good to have money in your pockets again. SF is a nice area. Like said b4 it is expensive. I dont know what your schedule will be or if you like to commute. But there are some cheaper areas up North. There is plenty to do though during the warmer months if your there til then. Not sure around that time of year. But you not far from Wine Country(Napa) and Montery is very nice as well.

If you are having to join the pipe fitters union,,, make damn sure that your employer pays you the prevailing wage for SF. It is way way higher than WA. state and also make sure that you also get the COLA (cost of living adj.) increases as well.
and if you can swing it .... have your employer spring for the housing if everyone can live in the same place for the 4 months or so ...

just my 1.75 cents worth.
