I know this is a tad late but for those that want to sit back and kill 5 hours on a scenic trip through the woods of Mt. Rainier to Morton, while sipping on wine, fine chocolates, and chocolate, this may interest you.

March 18th - Winter Wine Adventure
Celebrate the departure of “Old Man Winter” - with a relaxing ride through the forested foothills of Mount Rainier. We’ll steam through tall timber, and over scenic trestles, while sampling several fine Washington state wines. A light box supper, served onboard in Morton, followed by gourmet coffee and chocolate round out your afternoon adventure

Train Departs Elbe at 12:30pm and will return to Elbe at 5:15pm

I'll be there minus the camera. Time to kick back and enjoy the scenery.

And for those interested, for a tad more, you can get a cab ride the entire trip or one way.

The trip and train went VERY VERY well. We had a sold out train (105 passengers) and had 5 different wines and chocolates. Not to mention the catering did a excellent job piecing together some great yet filling meal to end the day. We even arrived back into Elbe 15 minutes early.

The sad but good part about this is 3 good friends of minethat have been with the railroad since they were early teens had their last run today, starting there own railroad with a steam locomotive. The plan for these great men will be known across the West Coast as they rebuild 6 steam locomotives in some record time.

While I am saddened by their departure, they have taught me a lot and while I still have a lot to learn, i'm glad to have the knowledge they passed onward to me to continue investing with the railroad with repairs.

With that said, wanna volunteer?? I took pictures with the camera phone, but not the regular camera. I spent the day as a paying customer even though I still helped out.

 

I would have totally been there if I knew about this.......NEST TIME!!

 

We are planning two more wine trains.. stay tuned! We are working on details and trying to get a winery to sponser the train.
