can i reset this myself? the car runs smooth. i dont see or feel any problem. im an aircraft mechanic not a car mechanic. if there is nothing is wrong why fix it. i just dont like spending money on something i can fix myself. im afraid of dealerships. lol
thanks for both response.

hmm.. thought only the maintence required light came on ...@ 5k intervals for oil.. or other service intervals.... not the check engine light...
but either way if it was for reg maitence service... ONLY the check engine/maintence required light will blink @ start up or stay on (if well past the 5k interval w/o reset)....
not the VSC and Traction light... if all 3 lit up may want to at least have the codes read...

yeah... if its still running fine.. could be a fuse or a sensor goin bad..... but if all 3 lit up.. swing by a shucks or autozone or something see if you can get them to read the code... just to be sure...
if it were for reg maintence interval... only the the Maintence light should be lit

could very possibly be a wheel speed sensor... because your vehicle stability control and your traction control are both dependent on those. unfortunately i think you are headed to some sort of professional repair facility... where are you at? i can recommend a few. if in seattle i know of a place that i used to work that is very fair and if you are in the portland metro area i know of a place a currently work that is very fair (my garage).

Yes take it to Autozone and they'll do a free code reading to tell you exactly what it is - this is what I did
Those same 3 lights come on all the time for me and I found out it's the rear o2 sensor causing them to come on, but it can be a cause of anything so I just go get the code read out and then you'll know more then

No profile, so I don't know what year car you have.
2004 through 2005 models had a TSB on the cam position sensor. There is a thread around here (ancient thread might I add) that listed off the VIN range of this issue.
I had this on mine a couple years ago which had the lights going on periodically. What I was told by the service rep was that some folks could feel a loss in power and others didn't. This issue will not hurt your motor, but it needs to be addressed. You could reset the computer by disconnecting the battery, but that would be defeating the entire purpose of these "warning" lights.
You could also check your gas cap and gas cap gasket and then reset the computer to see if that fixes your issue.
There is no telling what is connected to what (unless you're Thomas and have handy-dandy schematics booklets next to your pc..lol). So having lights come on like the VSC or Trac when it's an issue that appears totally unrelated is totally feasible.
Good luck with it

Oh, I wanted to add..... If infact the issue is the cam position sensor, it's a free fix, no questions asked. Otherwise, I'd definately check into Downhillspec's offer to get the issue straighened out.
and back in my hole, where I belong
I am checking the site regularly... Sadly, I'm working 5 days a week and the grass hasn't browned up enough to allow me a weekend away to do anything fun.... Hopefully before too long, I can make a trip up north to at least visit and meet all the new people (and fly my lonely Ascension colors).

xb fixed
this is the weirdest thing ever... all of the sudden the car fixed itself. all i did was put some gas in it. before the lights came on i had some 87 octane gas from safeway (the 1st time i got fuel from them). i drove about 260 miles and the lights came on. so i came to work the next morning and i was glad one of the guys i work with had a code reader (hes our master electrician). the next morning i gas up to cheveron (my normal gas fuel). and all lights were gone... the car still drives smooths and feel the same way with the eng, trac off, vsc lights on. i wonder if getting bad fuel really tick the lights on or should i worry...
i more question, im looking to buy a new spark plugs. what would be the best SP to make my car more efficient. im getting about 38-39 mpg. i wanted to get it 50+.
