Default Newbie looking for some advice

I am going to start shopping for an XB next month and I am hoping some of you on this board might have some advice on / be able to share some experiences with local dealerships in the Seattle, WA area. I have been looking at getting an XB since they came out but continued to put it off as I dumped $$$ into my jeep to keep it running. It is finally at a stage where it makes no sense to keep it running (and the extra gas in an XB won't hurt). So if anyone out there has some advice I would appreciate it -- I will be lurking around the boards and reading up on past posts.

Well Noah. The price of Scions are the same no matter where you go. So there is no need to shop around for the best price (unless you are buying used and my used one cost the same as a new one). Don't buy any accessories from the dealership you can find it all cheaper online.
I hope this helps.

Noah, welcome to the boards ....
i'd say interms of friendly dealerships.. lake city and puyallup will probably get the most positive reviews... as they help out continually in the community and with individual requests.
most will say... limit your dealer options as you can get most after market for cheaper. unless you want to put some of the options in as part of your payments.

anyways... those are the 2 dealerships that are "Friendlys" .. other than that.. any specific ?s just ask

I would buy an used one if I can find one close to what I am looking for absolutely. A co-worker recommended burien scion/toyota where he got his but I will most likely not be going to any dealerships unless they have something on the lot I want (yay for pre-approved loans!). I saw there is a dealer incentive I don't qualify for unfortunately but it looks like dealerships all have different asking prices over invoice for the same base model.

the only thing that should be different would be accounting for different tax's... otherwise you should be able to go to any dealership and get the car with same options at any place... for the same cost b4 taxes.

and around here... used have been going for more than new pending options

I bought one at Toyota of Seattle and one at Doxon Toyota.

Toyota of Seattle was a pain when it came to the financing and they wouldn't take 'no' for an answer when it came to warantees and gap coverage. We finally just signed up for it to get the car & get out of the door. We cancelled them the next day and then it took us over a month to get our money back. Not fun. And even to get oil changes were a pain. Never again for purchase, service, parts, etc!!!

Doxon was good with the whole "dealer agent also does finance" portion. I have had problems with the fact that I paid for the cloth coating, undercoating, paint protectant and I don't feel I got what I paid for (I don't think they ever did the cloth coating at all). I have complained but the time to resolve has been a pain. In terms of oil changes, they are great with in-and-out. Parts dept isn't that helpful at all and lots of things aren't kept in stock. Scion seems like more of a "side" for them. I asked when I was in last and they even poo-poo'd Exposed and other events for owners.

Now I go to Toyota of Puyallup for parts!!! They are great and don't "stick it to the man". They also answer all of my bizarre questions. About to buy another car from this dealer!!!

Oh...and from my perspective (and probably qrymson's too)...Burien Toyota cannot be trusted for service or body work!

I have spent $13K and three visits to still have my black box not working properly. They even got mad at me when I bought my 2nd box from another dealership.

I know its just certain people in the body shop or the service dept and this is not inclusive of the whole dealer but I can't go back until I know that they've cleaned house of those who work on my car that just could care less.

I guess I won't be buying used from them then :D I wish there were classifieds for the regions so I could see if someone on the board was trading up for something or getting rid of an XB that fits what I am after. I think otherwise I will end up getting a new one after reading horror stories.

Is that the same black box you just mentioned above as "not working properly" ?

I think you will find its not worth your time to find a used one. They blue book for nearly the same price as new. Unfortunately, unless you get lucky and want one that is exactly the color the dealer has on had today you might have to wait until "yours" comes in off the boat.

I am looking for black or silver automatic. I would love to find one with alloys and the ipod cabling already done because I don't want to do it again myself.

It works "properly", kinda, lol,

Seriously, it is cool now the box was rear-ended on the drivers side mainly. We got the pictures to prove it and insurance spent about 10k to fix it. The other two times I went back were to get the front bearings fixed. One time for the right side and one time for the left side. I had Doxxon Toyota checkout the work Burien did and they said it was cool the work is warranted by Burien as well.

While the black box was in the shop my wife saw the RS3.0 and had to have it. I am looking at getting something else for myself so if you are interested let us know. Otherwise its getting traded in.

I purchased from Nick @ Kirkland Toyota Scion. They throw in a couple of extra free oil changes if you go to some sort “appreciation dinner”. Also they play up that you get free loaner cars when having service work (not free oil changes) done.

Because of the pure pricing I didn’t shop around much, just wanted a white one with auto and they had one come in with 1 mile on the odometer. I have only had my xB 2 weeks, tonight, so I haven’t exercised the dealership on what they said I would/will get. We shall see how they come through.

Only option I got from the dealer was the upgraded stereo. Internet is the way to go for OEM and aftermarket parts.

My son bought his tC from Lake City a week before I bought my xB. His sales man was Carlos and everything, including the financing, went very smooth.

I got my tC from Bob Bridge in Renton. They're nice. I've spent alot of time there. 3 free oil changes too. But yeah,.. I also think that your best bet is to just get a brand new car. So you know for sure that its in good shape. :D

The interior is all black so good luck finding a stain. I paid for that on both our boxes and after I thought about it they probably don’t have to do a thing because you will never see a stain on the black interior. I do like the paint sealer. Since they were packaged together we didn’t really have a choice.
