Default Obama Supporters vs. My Scion!!!

I haven't been on SL in a while because taking care of baby takes up most of my time (and any free time is spent looking at the back of my eyelids while I try to catch up on sleep)...but I just had to let y'all know about what has happened to me and my box so far.

So I had my Hillary stickers on my car (I'm a staunch supporter) and when she suspended her nomination I added "Mom for McCain" and "Women for McCain" to the back of my box (I kept the Hillary stickers on as well).

Thus far I have been:
1) Harassed in University Place with threats of violence (even while I was sitting there feeding my baby a bottle of milk).
2) Called a racist on several occasions in the Seattle-Tacoma metro areas
3) Had people flip me off several times on the road.
4) Encountered several people who wanted to debate and tell me that I "HAVE TO" vote for Obama.

BUT THIS TAKES THE CAKE!!!

5) I have had my car keyed TWICE!!!

I knew that these were political statements but I never thought it would go as far as vandalism and threats.

Excuse me...but wasn't the Obama mantra to be "tolerant and inclusive"??? Isn't there a right to free speech? Don't I have a right to my own opinion and vote? Where is the peace and love?

Oh well...I'm assuming that there is going to be more damage to come so I'm not going to repaint till November.

Maybe its time for me to start planning a custom paint job?

IMO most morons line up to vote for Obama only cause he's popular right now. They don't even care about politics.

yes, you have every right to voice your opinion and freedom of speech and expression, and well, people will respond to that with their own expression and speeches.

all i can say is that i've noticed very few people put bumper stickers on anything but beaters, very rarily do i see them on new cars or nice cars. and you putting those stickers on your car is a way of just showcasing your political views to the world, and people with contradicting idealogies are going to be against yours and tell you why.

is it wrong, yes, but are you kinda inviting on yourself? yeah.

frankly, i don't understand bumper stickers, why does everybody have to know if i'm for or against abortion, war, homosexual rights, politics etc. i have views and opinions on all of those, but do i need to display that on my car 24/7 and invite unwanted attention from people with conflicting points of view? hell no. you want to support mccain, wear a t-shirt or a hat or something and go to a rally or whatever, telling everybody, your going to bring out the good and the bad. so my advice is to take off the stickers, i don't think your going to help or hinder mccain's campaign if you don't have a bumper sticker on your car.

ironically enough... there was an obama/mccain poster right below the thread at the time of me posting this...

im sorry to hear about your misfortunes as of late...

its really been bothering me that OBAMA is the poster boy of the "change" that america needs when im sure that most of the people who are going to vote for him in november dont even know what "changes" he is endorsing

American Politics: We vote for what's popular so that we can be popular too.

And yes mocascion, you're entirely right and everything in your post is pretty appalling... but not surprising. They're probably ex-Ron Paul supporters.

In 04 I had a Bush sticker on my Ranger and caught nothing but crap in Lake City from all the outback driving, fleace wearing, $5 coffee slurping, socks w/ sandals wearing, Al Gore loving liberals. Especailly since quite frequently the same thing would happen. I alwyas love the "debates" that would go on, and how a litte volume would always make a difference on my side

-person who voted for the "baby killer"

PS I approve this message /rant

OMG I am so sorry for you C A it is so very messed up that you become a victim for voicing your opinon on YOUR vehicle, it is nobody's place to vandalize property that is not their own because they don't agree with you. People need to get over themseves and realize everyone has their opinions about things and that is their right.. ....sheese I was just at a BBQ sat where I was surrounded by Dino Rossi supporters (which I am not a supporter) I only once voiced my opinion and that I am not a supporter and not once did I get degraded or ousted! But For reasons like what has happened to you is the reason I refuse discuss politics and also I understand that not everybody will see things as I do..........but stand up for what you believe do what you need to do.....don't let the idiots get the best of you

I would hate to think that people think that all Obama supporters are like this. On the one hand, I've been supporting the Obama campaign almost a year before he even announced it, so it's great to see him as popular as he is... but on the other hand, it's trendy to support Obama now, so all the dumb sheeple are flocking towards him and doing dumb sheeple stuff like this. Sure, I disagree with John McCain being president, and I support Barack Obama... but I'm not about to go and key people's cars and give them the finger. Again, that's Ron Paul supporter territory.

EDIT: F-l-o-c-k-i-n-g is a swear word?

I'm sorry but liberals are easily the biggest hypocrits. In Oregon we have a small, liberal town called Ashland. There was a guy who owned a Hummer H2 with a huge american flag graphic on each side of it and it was vandalized constantly. Plus there are people like Al Gore that talk about saving energy and being "green" while using tons of energy in their own homes. Then there is the PETA which kills thousands of animals each year and supports domestic terrorism. As far as I'm concerned, liberal means "better than you". *end rant*

I don't put political stickers on my car. It just seems like it's inviting some whacko to damage my car.

I'll be adding a political bumper sticker to my car soon as well. Hopefully I don't get too much of a backlash for it. Here's the sticker:

I'd prefer vinyl, but don't have an easy way to vectorize it. I'll probably end up printing it like a normal sticker and mounting it to a thin aluminum plate, then mount the plate to the hatch like a plaque via 3M red tape to not mess up the paint.

It sucks people take politics so persoally, yet lightly. I am not a citizen of the US, but I do care about the american elections, because the outcomes effects the world. I will say that if Obama becomes the US president, there will be more people in the world hating the US, as if there's not enough at this moment.

Why do you say that?

I'm not really into politics but I support Obama because I dislike Hillary and I don't think McCain will be any better for the country than Bush was. I think it's time to work on the economy now and democrats have a better handle on how to do that than republicans. I read Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope" and, just so long as he meant what he said, I agree with a lot of what he says. Not everything, but at least I understand his reasons for his opinions.
