Have you ever been to one? I went for the first time today.

I put off getting my oil changed for way too long. I was trying to make it out to Victor's but never did. So I went to Oil Can Henry's and was quite impressed. I like that you're shown video of them changing your car's oil filter and of the engine area. I also like that they kept proving to me that they checked this and that and that they put enough oil in my car.

Anyhow, as far as non-dealership oil changes go, I'll be an Oil Can customer. I'll still try to make it to the dealership though... especially on days I don't think I could stomach looking at them in their little bow ties and hat costumes, lol.

 

I've probably got a lot different vision in my head than most about what this place is like. Oweing to the fact that I lived in Austin, TX for 10 years, and there was a ___ bar there by the name of "Oil Can Harry's"!

 

yeah, they are one of the places I will actually take my car to during the winter when I don't feel like changing the oil myself. The people there seem to know what they are doing, and at the one I go to, the mechanic there have been there since I started using them 5 years ago. This is very different from the iffy lube places where they hire clueless college kids who gets confused on which "screw" is the drain plug.

 

ScionofPCFL. I liked Oil Can Henry's but I bet I would of had more fun at Oil Can Harry's, lol.

SSQ... you said "iffy lube" on purpose, didn't you? That's good... I'm going to have to refer to it as that from now on!

Yeah, iffy lube is the official name for JL in another fourm I use.

They generally use Castrol GTX if I remember right, and you can have them put Syntec in your car for an additional cost. I usually bring my own filter and oil because I use only OEM filter and mobil1 oil.

 

Uh... I'm not sure Kanchi. I know on my slip it says I got Castrol Syn 530. And I know when asked what kind of oil I wanted, I got the full synthetic. At least I think that is what it was... it was the most expensive kind... the 6-7k miles kind.

Yeah, I went to the one in Smokey Point (the exit before the stump, lol). I wasn't aware that they were the only ones around.

 

I use Oil can Henry's for my work van. I like that I get the newspaper for free so I usually go on Sundays as I don't subscribe t the paper myself.

 

Free newspaper? Well hooray.

I did see them give a paper to a person behind me. I guess that's cool, lol.

 

It's not like i get a stack of papers every morning like some people I know.

 

^ouch...I prefer Kendall or Mobil 1 personally, I used the castrol for the first 3, thats it.

Hows cori feel about this Henry gentleman checking your oil?

 

Well, I haven't told him yet. He'll surely be upset. He often feels as though I don't let him check my oil enough and/or that I need it checked all the damn time. He should never of let me buy the do-it-yourself oil checker kit. It's easier to use, more accurate, always gets the job done...

 

We've been together for 8+ years and sometimes ^ I just shake my head.

How much did Oil Can Henry charge you?

 

A regular oil change is $29.99 but I think they said that every time I come in for subsequent oil changes, I'll get $5 off.

My first time there. and getting the fancy oil, cost $59.99. I think that's $4 more expensive than Rodland and minus the free car wash coupon. But it's closer, and WAY faster and I can visibly see them change my oil filter and all that jazz. Seems as though priority #1 is proving to me that they did what they said the were going to do and did it well.
