ok so in a challenge today from one of our fantastic customers,....
he said My VW can take anything your scion come out with and any mods that you put on and smoke it on a regular basis!!!!!
ok so here it is the end of January and the measurment specs on the new xB should be out any time, So this puts me in the mind of what can we do to the xB this year and how much can we get out of it.
I think it would be fun to chime in and give sugjestions on what you would like to see on one of the new Xb's and how much horse power we could get out of one. Also what kind of Body mods, we all would like to see since we soon should have a confirmed Idea of what one looks like.
I would like to build one just to make this guy eat his words and I want to do it with the new xB.
So lets all come together and see what we come up with. I will post up specs as they become avalible.

in order to beat a new VW with the 2.5 ltr engine my Jetta has, you'll need boost and juice. plain and simple.
Then you'll need to lose every single pound possible and have a clutch from hell and a suspension to match. every single power robbing part needs to go, i.e. power steering, AC, ABS, everything!
The 2.5 is TORQUEY as hell and while its downfall is the soft as kitten fur clutch and whimpy top end, you get the tires warm and turn off the traction control and have a semi decent hole shot, and the scion has no chance. Much as I love my car, it cant hold a candle to my Jetta and I have the optioned out lead sled version!
I would guess it would be easier if you are going up against a 1.8T and much easier in the top end against a TDI.
If its a built bug, forget it. I've seen bugs with a very small budget run 11's
If the challenge it to build a boosted car vs boosted car or a NA vs NA, opt for the boost, its the Scion's only hope even with the high output 1.8

okay so the more I thought about it, the more I'm thinking you could.....maybe.........come close.......
for sure you would need:
intake
well thought exhaust
stiff suspension
high strength clutch
light weight wheels and sticky tires
weight loss program
NOS
Boost (super charger for sure)
Even then you'd have to be careful if the VW has any mods. I know if I throw one intake on, the neuspeed exhaust and a reflash, I gain somewhere close to 60 HP and 75 foot pounds of tourque. If you are running against a stock VW maybe but a modded one would present a tough as nails challenge.
If you are talking about an unmodded older mrak 3 or mark 4 jetta or golf then the plan -o- gram would be less drastic but as you can tell, I've put a lot of thought into how to beat my wifes car and its not an easy task.

think i was reading somewhere a while back in the "power" section of this site that some1 was doing some serious research into swapping the header(i think) of the xB motor with that of a Prius (iirc) and they are supposedly close enough to bolt on w/little modification...
supposedly the differenence between them would allow for higher(or was it lower?) compression ratio, to allow for some serious Boost.... along with different pistons and a few other 'key' items...
but that was with the 1.5l engine that the xB currently has... not sure if similar theory would work for the new model
then again.. i could be 100% wrong cuz as long as my car isnt spewing smoke, burning oil. or making other weird sounds... and it gets me from a-b... i go more for appearance than go

well if its a new GTI its a 2.0 L turbo... and if its a new GTI then its also pretty meaty (read: heavy)... it depends on the race... ive beaten tougher cars than that before with a worse setup on my tC... if hes serious and wants to run i'll do it. i say we need more info on the car... more info victor... i think i can take him in a real race (read: drag "racing" is for retards who cant do more than ram through a gear box).

ok so it is the new GTI four door. he said it is a 2.0l T and totaly unmoded. And trust me he drools over moding but has no clue what so ever how to do it or where to do it at. He just hinks that there is no way a Scion could ever beat his VW, and he said Moded or not. So I am going to try and build something hot and tight this year and see where we all go. So put our thinking caps on and lets go.
Can we do a stage Four turbo with low end boost? Couple a great cold air intake boost controler, sleeve the engin higher gains on the fuel regulators of course exhaust and header. I ahve heard of a higher flowing catalatic converter so it does not retard things as bad. and of course a turbo blow of value.
So lets find some stuff and compare on power plant first, then go to suspension.
Power it up first guys and lets go from there.

Oooh, Oooh! You can go on eBay and get some sort of chip to put in your car for like $3 that will make it go faster.
lol
I hope you figure it out, Victor. I wouldn't want to put my xB to a race with my go-cart, let alone a regular vehicle, lol.

NO WAY!!! go suspension first, then drive train, then brakes, then power. You cant do anything with power if you cant use it properly and what good is power if you cant stop?
this is going to be a very expensive venture to beat a 2.0T but you can most likely do it with an intercooled supercharger and NOS and a crap load of suspension / drivetrain work. my guess is without labor you are looking close to 15k?
