sorry to say but thats a dumb move, there is ALWAYS officers in that area.
As far as getting another ticket, you have a modified car with a loud exhaust, to them your just another punk street racer no matter what, there gonna be looking at your car. you do somthing stupid like this and they will pull you over.
not watching for a reply cause its not worth it.

Don't mitigate it, contest it. Tell the Judge you were not aware on/off ramp carpool lanes were under a different time restriction and there is no sign with that posted, other than the sign that reads: carpool lane open 7pm-5am.
I think Tyler should bring this to the attention of the Judge, and if he gets an Attorney, you can guarantee the attorney will bring this up in court. The abuse of power is strong up here in WA.
yah i think its silly, but im not a lawyer. its either 124 + insurance OR 300is$ for a lawyer and no insurance. so im leaning towards the lawyer unless it something simple like well she pulled me over 3 miles after it happened. ya know?
as far as i know E, its a King County Sheriff, so they DO have "jurisdiction" in king county. a state patroler i know told me that we dont have "jurisdictions" in washington, just more like "okay i want city cops in their city, state patrol on the state routes, and the sheriffs everywhere else" but when i get the hard copy of the ticket i will call the lawyer and find out if i have any grounds.
^that's what it's like in CA. An officer, no matter what city or agency they work for, has Police powers over the whole state. If something happens in the Officer's presence, whether on duty or off, they have the right to arrest, or pull you over. I'm sure it's the same here.
Dang the West Coast and there stupid laws. The HOV or carpool lane (as you wierd people out here call them LOL j/k) have a time limit ex. 6-11 and 4-8 on the east coast and we dotn have these stupid lights at on ramps or carpool lanes at on ramps cause they actually know how to merge onto the highway and not bring traffic to a halt for no stupid reason.
why would i chip in? its not my fault u got pulled over for it. Im just saying I wouldnt waste money on a lawyer. Been there done that and it didnt really do much and I used Jeanie Mucklestone who everyone raves about.
Tickets happen. I say suck it up and contest and if u gotta pay then u gotta pay.
I paid 400 a month for my insurance for 6 months and now im down to 220 a month.

I thought sheriffs' responsibilities were limited to jails, prisons and county courts. I didn't know they patrolled the highways in Washington.
Always challenge tickets, period. You will at least get a reduction in the fine.

Oh, and forget using a lawyer. I've been in court a few times, and the lawyer doesn't affect the outcome. You're just as likely to get off with a reduction as someone that doesn't have a lawyer present.
Don't go there without a reasonable explanation, too. Say something like, "Your Honor, the signs posted said that the HOV lanes were open after 7. There was no sign saying the on-ramps were restricted HOV use at all hours. If I had seen a sign, I would have never entered the on-ramp."
Be respectful of the judge ALWAYS. Never interrupt, and if you do, apologize.

best bet is to goto court and apoligise for not understanding that the sign does not include onramps.get the ticket reduced or dropped.........and thank them for their time.........
remember when we drive a modified car we tend to get profiled and genericly treated........my mom in her hyundai would not gotten more than a warning........young guy in a sports car......ticket.......almost every time....
chalk it up to youth and a lesson learned..........best you can do
