As well does anyone have experiance with minor body work and prep.

Nate,

Depends on the body work, I can try to help you. I would not mind helping you spray it as well. If you are willing to wait till the fall I plan on taking the class again. You can always call the local community college shop programs they may have a good connection on places that will let you rent a booth. I found a booth in Kent once but I no longer have their contact info. Also I heard that the air force base has a paint booth that people can rent out and use as long as you have someone in the services or retired. Let me know what you find out as well.

Nick - Honey0Bucket can tell you a lot about paint work and prep. He's doing it professionally now.

Even with a booth and everything, it's so hard to get it all right, I tried and failed adequately in doing it, even with the best tools... there is so much technique, experience, and ultimately pure finesse involved in getting a great finish.

I don't try to paint anymore... it's out of my league, and I've done or tried pretty much everything mod wise myself and pulled it off pretty good, except for painting. Painters get all the props from me, as it is a tough craft... try it out for yourself, but man it is humbling.

nate my suggestion would be to pick up pieces of metal or plastic primer them and shoot them. you can do that outside the booth. just to get your spraying down pat. just go to a junk yard and grab any same material you want to paint.

body work is easier then shooting. unless you have a ton of dings and dents.

Nate- If you have a date of when you are looking at and you have to rent a booth for 24 hours let me know. Maybe we can do a group thing and split the costs among other folks. As far as painting your car I am not sure if you know the steps of what all you need to do but let me know. I can help you figure out the prep materials and steps you will need to for prep and paint.

There is an auto paint shop here in auburn. Its called Wesco its just south of Doxon on the Westside of Auburn Way next to the B&B auto parts. They give pretty good advice. They offer PPG paint, which is highly recommended by professionals.
