Default Rear Wiper + Rain

We get rain a lot here in the NW so I was curious if anyone has taken their rear wiper off? I like the look but I'm not sure if I'll have good visibility without it on. Opinions?

I don't have a rear wiper & haven't had one for almost 2 years now. Ya the rear window gets a little nasty from the weather & driving, but not bad enough to where I can't see out of it...

No big deal either cuz I have a back up camera ha ha

I like having and use my wiper, always wondered if having a rear wing helps with the swirl of spray that you get driving down the road.

That must have been after installing the new deck, lol.

Honestly I never use the backup camera anyway. It's kinda cool to turn it on when I'm driving though.

I hate the wiper.... dumb idea to put it on, even dumber to not make it intermittent... some engineer should be slapped.

In my opinion the rear wiper is useless. It does not do a good job of cleaning off dirt, it does help move water around. At night time I just look for headlights and during the day it is easy to see out of the xB’s large windows.

I wonder and was kinda annoyed they didn’t put a rear wiper on the tC because there I think it would be useful and it would actually do something.

Mo--- What you say is very interesting and I bet if the car was made for japan it would have a wiper. If you ever notice on 240sx's (s14 95-98 in the US) in japan they have a wiper on the rear window, not in the US. Skylines also have a back window wiper...

Er, the tC is made in Japan... (It was just designed in the US.)

I have a rear wiper, I use it, it is effective for me.

Oh ok Doug, you got me.. When I had the stock deck in there for that short period of time it didn't work ha ha

My new deck is set up so that when I go into reverse the camera automatically comes on..

Back to the subjet.. I don't feel that the rear wiper is needed.> i have never had any issues seeing or driving without that wiper. It's super easy to remove, all you have to do is figure out what you want to fill the hole with.

I agree that not making it intermittent was pretty stupid. I use it, but never set it to just run. I'll manually have it do a swipe or two, then turn it off. How hard would it be to mod it? (And how hard would it be to mod the front ones to be variable?)

i hardly ever use mine. infact the one and only time i can remember using it was up at my dad's place way over in Hoodsport up near lake cushman. the rain was pooring directly on the rear window so i use to use it to back up and after that small 10 second period i turned it off and went on my marry way...

I experimented with it tonight and I've always kind of liked it but I tried to see if it'd be useless and it almost is, this of course could be because the OEM wiper isnt that great but I could be wrong. I'm gonna try getting a different wiper, then seeing what else I could do =/.

Yeah - if you come up with something you like better, please let us know! I find it just marginally useful enough to keep. Any improvements would be really welcome.
