Default Recommended Places to Eat.. Eugene, Oregon

Hey all.. I'm departing here next week on the 24th and wondering if there is a good sit down place to eat at. Not Denny's, Sheri's, IHOP, etc... but something different and unique. I'll be in Eugene near lunch time.

Address or directions off I-5 would be great

Thanks for the tips!

Trying to remember the name and address of a decent Greek/Indian restaurant right downtown - if you are adventuresome - and can take hot food - I recommend their Vindaloo. Think it was something like Anatolia's - can't remember. *sigh* On Willamette maybe a block south of Broadway? Lousy memory.

For more of a 'just good food' place, the Sixth Street Grill right near the Hilton, on Sixth Ave. (downtown, again) has damned good food for lunch - come hungry. (Good breakfasts, too!)

I don't have much knowledge of anything farther out of the city center.

If I can track down the name of that Greek/Indian place a block off 'The Mall' I'll post up here.

I like Eugene - very nice little city.

My hope is those places are both still there - been maybe a year since I ate at either.

Oh! The 24th is a Saturday, isn't it? There's the Saturday Market - almost a street fair, at the park right downtown. There is a Mexican family that has some VERY fine, authentic Mexican food at a stand there. Again, it has been a while, so hopefully some locals can confirm/deny if my info is still any good.

UPDATE:
Sixth Street Grill. 55 W. 6th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97401. Phone: 541-485-2961; Fax: 541-485-3080.

Olive Garden near the Valley River Center (the big mall)

Lots of small sit downs near the campus.. But you'll have to drive to locate them.

But near the Valley River Center:
Red Robin- specialty burger
Marie Calander- high priced denny's (food is good though)
El Torritos- Pretty decent mexi food and a endless chip and salsa bar (three different types of salsa behind the bar area)
there is a seafood place next to the mexi place, kinda greasy.. but it'll fill the bill when you got the hankering for seafood.

Valley River Center;
From I-5..
Belt Line Rd
Delta Highway
Follow signs.

All the restaurants are located almost all the way around the outside of the mall lot. Just drive around it and you will see the signs..

Directions to El-Torritos (sp)

I-5 to beltline west
Delta Highway exit (I believe it's the second exit)
Take a left on Delta Highway.
Take the Valley River Center exit off off Delta Highway (again, the second exit)
This will take you to a traffic signal (4-way)
You will want to go straight through the interesection.
This road will lead towards the Valley River Inn (hotel)
Before you get to the hotel, there will be a road on the left (a short road at that, with a slightly raised parking lot on the right side of the road)

You will see the Seafood restaurant on the right, the Mexican restaurant will be on the left. You will want to park on the raised parking area I was speaking of before. The lot for the mexican place is door ding central (small spots).

The all you can eat nachos w/ three different types of dip is secretly hidden on the backside of the bar. There is a whole different eating area back there. I just walk on back and load up. You can also eat back there if you prefer.. Same menu, just a quicker return on your drink orders if you sit near the bar

Have fun
