Default Seattle Scikotics Spring Drive

Hi Seattle. It is time we do a get together.
I was thinking of a drive on May 20th this is a Saturday. The drive would consist of taking the ferry from Mukilteo to Whidby Island, driving up the Island to Fort Casy. {Fort Casy was built for WWll it was never used to defend the Sound. It is now unused & open as a vry cool park} It is is a real fun place great for kids & the kid in all of us. It has good parking for a great Scion show. Then we could either drive to the top of the Island and return via I-5 or go back down the Island and take the freey back the return fair is free.
I would really like to see a large showing of people besides the Tue. meets we have not really doone anything as a group. It's time to do so

We'd be meeting at the park right next to the ferry, at around 10 or 11 AM so I guess the time is yet to be determened

Sounds cool Bruce. I'm gonna suggest a different date though since there's an event going on on the 20th in the area, and the next day is Great Strides.

Maybe the week after?

Be sure to check for dates of posts that are stickied etc. Bigger turnouts = nothing previously going on that day.

The MR2 guys did this 2 months ago I believe - it was a lot of fun! they took the ferry up then stopped by a park, then to fort casey, then to lunch near the water, then to deception pass. If its a nice day ill consider tagging along :-)

Default revised spring drive

depending on the weekend and where the drive would start
The drive would consist of taking the ferry from Mukilteo
OK since the 20th is a no go. I think the 27th May 2006 @ 10:30AM meet at the park right by the Mukilteo ferry. I think we're still in spring. I am not sure when the equanox is. The ferry cost is $6.65 for the regular fare. disabeled fair is $5.65. The return fair I thought was free. but after checking the WSF site, the return would be the same price.
So:
1. Meet at 10:30 at the Mulikteo park by the ferrys, by the lighthouse.
2. Leave on the 11:30ish ferry
3. Drive the fun twisty roads of Whidbey island
4. arrirve at Fort Casy play, talk car talk. Also this would be a BYOF&B
[bring your own food & booze or pop]
5. take the drive back down Whidby and do the return ferry trip

OK OK BYOF&D
[Bring your own food & drinks. Be it Soda beer or what ever] LOL

Just remember that if you're behind the wheel of a car it should be soda, unless there is a designated driver! We want a accident & ticket free day.

As for driving beyond the posted speed limits on the roads of Whidbey Island cool with me. Just once again remember YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this will be the first group day event foe Seattle Scikotics. Lets make it a great one. Please let all of the people you know about this. The more people the more fun it should be. I am really looking forward to it.

I appriciate the revision here but please make sure we are not condoning any breaking on any speed limit on a public road. If I see any more 'its okay to speed just dont get caught' type stuff, I will take the appropriate actions.

Thanks!

Was just about to comment on that myself...

One of the things I made very clear early on with members is that we set an example!

OK POINT TAKEN
I am feeling a bit picked on here.
OK so I should have used different, and or omitted the verbiage that I did.
Making threats is not very cool either. You make it sound as it is directed to me, like I am a constant abuser of such things.

As,
I really try to always obey posted speed limits. [my Sig. is just tough talk] I can not control what others do.
Nor should I have to!
This being said I would hope that others would take the same lead.
In the past drives, that I have gone on the speed limit always seemed to be a suggestion. Because of this I have not made it a point to go on any more drives. This is supposed to be a fun easy day, and I would like to keep it just that.
A Scion & Family day. This is why I picked Fort Casey as it is both fun for adult & kids alike.
So that being said lets put this whole speed thing to rest, and start planing to have a fun day.

If the whole ferry thing won;t work for some (Shawn, etc) isn't there a way to get to Whidbey via Arlington or something?

We could always do that... It avoids the annoying ferry lines.

I hear that some lowriders have managed to make it on the ferry by staggering their wheels but not sure how low they were......

I agree so as not to alienate anyone with a low car that wants to go, we have an alternate route in mind, just in case. That way, day of drive, if we get there and some people with really low cars arrive, we can change accordingly and not be scrambling for a fix.......

Sound good?
