Default Shop Recommendation?

The dealer is trying to charge me $190 for a "tech recommended" tranny flush and $340 for replacing my leaking axle seal. Already gave them the go ahead for replacing the seal but didn't for the flush.

Are there any recommended shops around the greater seattle area that I can get the flush done at a better price? Already contemplated on doing a simple drain and refill OR pan drop and filter change to save some cheese but, I want to be assured that everything is all clean in there from the leaky axle seal and all.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

It's when the old fluid is flushed out and new fluid is push in via machine. I guess the difference compared to draining is that it cleans out the tranny vs just draining where the old oil is still in certain areas.

My local dealer offers two tranny services where one costs $190 which is basically the flush, and the other about $50 which is the drain and refill.

i got my tranny flushed at a grease monkey in auburn... couple years ago.. think it was closer to the $100 range... i combo'd it with a oil change and a few other things so my total bill was just over 200...

but the tranny flush was in the 100 range if i recall correctly..

When I worked at Jiffy Lube they did them for 90 bucks, but that was Jiffy Lube, and I don't trust them after I worked there and experienced the work some of them did there lol. Sorry to any Jiffy Lube employees here!

yeah.. i trust grease monkey more than jiffy lube... actually recall one of them double checking they put in some special additive that toyota uses in their fluid... and if they were supposed to charge for that they forgot... cuz it wasnt listed on receipt anywhere

at least gave me a warm fuzzy that they had 1/2 a clue of what had to be done and they new how...

Thanks for the replies guys!

I've just heard from an inside source that my local dealer doesn't even do the flush. They just drop the pan.

You work for a dealer? Dropping the pan is not the same as a simple drain.

If you have an automatic get the flush, if you have a manual get the regular service. Again seems high...try a national automotive chain like Firstone, usually like $79.99-$99.99.

Yea is an auto. It's my DailyD, hahahahaha. $190 is too damn high for a flush. Think i'm just going to drop the pan and replace the screen/filter and flush the poor mans way.

I mean, if the service rep is telling me that "their" going to do a flush via machine but my inside man tells me that they just drop the pan, wtf!? I'd rather do it myself if that's the case.
