Default It simply had to go

That's right, it was time to let it go. After a little over a year and a half and 28,562 miles, the original rear windshield wiper had to go. It was well over due!

FWIW, the part number is 85214-52020 and it's listed for $3.04. Not a bad deal!

My dealer said that the wipers were covered under the warranty until 36,000 miles

Yup, just the rubber wiper refill.

milesm4 - I'm surprised by that. Seems like they couldn't really warranty a wiper blade, but hey...it'll save you $3.04!

I was going to purchase some of those PIAA wipers two oil changes ago cuz mine were wearing out and the service writer said OEM blades were covered under the warranty.

singleshot - $5 aint too bad overall, but it is a pretty dinky little thing. Oh well.
milesm4 - if I were in your position, I wouldn't question!

Next up, rotate tires, change plugs, and oil change. I'll probably rotate the tires this weekend. I've got about 1,400 miles 'till the spark plugs and oil are due for changing.
Anything else I should do before winter hits (aside from possibly winter tires)?

two things...

1) totally no bs... one of my good friends is a t-10 certified mechanic (toyota certified)... the plugs are good for 80,000 at least. but are suggested not to change till 100,000.

2) my work (GM YEAH!!!) sells PIAA wipers... i got the hook up now who wants em? and yes they can get them for the entire scion line... i already asked.

i saw a big box that said PIAA in the parts room today and got all inquisitive cause i want PIAA lights... turns out we (the employees) can get the wipers for like half price.

Glen can also get PIAA @ a discount / GB. We as a group just have to put in an order. Ask him about such ramblings.

I was pretty surprised that the manual recommends changing the plugs at 30K. But after reading about the plugs, it seems they're just standard plugs. No platinum, nuthin'. I have decided to change the plugs anyway, and here's why:
For one, the manual recommends changing the plugs at 30,000. Second, they're only about $10 and an hour's worth of effort...not too shabby. Lastly, I figure it gives me an excuse to spend some quality time with my Scion, freezing my fingers off in the chilly Dalles fall.

Too bad they don't use Iridium-tipped plugs like on the tC, you wouldn't have to replace them so soon.

I haven't brought it up again because, nobody else said they wanted anything. There was a small group of folks at the SCAA picnic that said they were interested.

The deal is PIAA corp. headquarters doesn't want to compete with local retailers. So, we can get a significant (40% on wheels) discount on stuff if we order as a group say once or twice a year something like that. Essentially, I need a list of everything everyone wants to get, I give it to him and then he tells be what kind of deal we get. I can't remember who it was but some of the Seattle people suggested we wait until tax return time. I encourage everyone to let me know if they want to get in on this GB.
