Default Today's Storm

Have you had your power go out yet? I did around 5am for about two hours. The wind is blowing much harder now when it did then so I imagine it's only a matter of time before it goes out again. That or we get some more firewood for next year... hopefully our firewood will miss the house like it did the two times before in years past, lol.

We did get a bunch of emergency flood lights today and it should make it a whole lot less pitch dark while we search for the flashlights and candles. We're also having a problem with the circuit breaker out on our power pole popping the last two nights so this will make it easier to get ready to trek outside and flip it back on. My father suggested it must be getting water in it and to cover it up with plastic or something... just for starters. But it's too windy to mess with that right now.

The power down in Sumner is out in places (so many of the street lights are out that it took 40 minutes just to cross the valley from the Old Canery to the Sumner-Tapps Highway).

Our lights have flickered a couple of times. The power has also flickered at Mo's work (in Federal Way) so we're betting it'll go out sooner or later.

The kids (my 2 youngest siblings) are taking bets on whether or not the school will be closed tomorrow due to either flooding or power outages...what do you think?

Got the heat cranked up now to warm the house in case the power does go out. Got candles, blankets, & the bbq grill ready if needs-be!

Stay warm and dry Jenna!!!

I'm going to go with no power before flooding would cancel school. It looks as though many of the flood warnings went away. In my school career and my children's, the only time school was canceled due to power was Inauguration day, all those years ago.

I've got those lights... got a fire in the woodstove. Not much more for us to do. I also got my laptop for entertainment and internet use, if the cellphone reception Gods are kind, that is. The children have their 4 billion versions of Gameboys, vSmiles and VideoNow and Costco sized AA battery collection to keep them out of my hair.

when all else fails...you have your significant other and or personal friend or whatever you want to call them...to keep you company.... the best is to sit by a window and look out and watch the wind and thunder/lightning!

Yep, we lost power over here. I was sitting here last night and all the sudden it went pitch black.. scary. Then I eventually went to sleep and it went out sometime in the morning and was out until about 4:30 PM. The rest of the city was still out, but they had to turn on the power on base because they can't function at all without it. By the time I got home from work about half the city had power back.. but Hwy 20 after Deception Pass was still pitch black (SCARY!!) and half of town was pitch black too (even creepier). Not sure how it is now, but I drove around town and there were power guys out here doing something and some other guys driving around in trucks with bright lights.

Weather has definitely calmed down since last night, today and earlier on tonight.. so hopefully no more power outage or anything. But I do love this weather and the spookiness it brings.

Lucky! I passed a news crew on my way to work last night and just now made a run to the store and bank and passed another news crew.. so I turned around and passed them again. And the guy had his camera out. *waits to see* xD

We lost power yesterday a little after noon and didn't come back on until about 3:30 a.m. Now I have to go to Burlington and find new surge protectors because we had a surge after the power went out and suddenly came on for a second in a wild flash and it fried them. (Thankfully I had them!!) A few arcade games might have been affected tho at the pizza place.

I can't imagine hurricanes because that 60 mph was enough for me!!!!!

Our power went out and WOW, did those new emergency light things work GREAT!

It was only out for 2 hours... how they get and fix our power so fast when all the crews should of been busy everywhere else, I don't know.

I worked in it on Lake Whatcom up here in B'ham. I rolled joices, and walked beams all day in it, Scary ____. We lost power off and on all day. Ended up handbanging blocks for way too long.

Lots of trees went down. When going to lunch, a tree went down in front of us and hit a truck and smashed in the windshield/roof. Everyone just sat there looking at the tree. No one wanted to move the tree. THree of my co-workers and I got out of the truck and just dragged it out of the road so we could get to Bob's Burgers.

We were in Bellingham today... took Chuckanut home and saw lots of downed trees (moved off to the side, of course).
