wait, you say you want to work for the community. So why did you not want to work with SE to make it better? What was stopping you working with SE to make the community better?

Making a new club only splits the community in half/third right? I dont get why you could not work with the SE folks to make it better.

Now dont get me wrong, im not with any club, and i dont see me been with any club any time soon, however if you want to work for the community why not work with a club already in place, a club with a community already.

Well..... finally glad the waiting period is over...
wish you and your fellow members good luck and look forward to some friendly competition.

My one question is, and I don't think it was brought up at the m&g... Is this a Scion only club? in talks leading up to this... somedays it was, some it wasnt, some was only for a year...

that would be it... pending the answer of course

Good luck with the new venture

See this is my point right here. "look forward to some friendly competition." Why do we need a competition as a community? I dont think we do and it seems we have one. To me that is bad, in the othe M&G thread there was already talk about non-clubmembers and hear comes another club. I know everyone is welcome and all, but to me it just splits the community up rather than bringing it closer together.

Seems rather counter productive.

granted this would most likely work better in a place like SoCal with different clubs all for the same type of cars or what not... the PNW community, while growing, may or may not be able to sustain 2 clubs... in the past it hasn't worked... yet....
but like it or not... there are also another 2-3 scion clubs looking to expand up here as well. So be it Dustin branching off from SE or not... there are others coming.

I view this particular form of competition like rival high schools in the same town or colleges... Apple cup? you may have gone to the same grade and middle/jr high school as most of your friends, but each step up the school chain.. friends fall under different 'bounderies' and end up in different schools.... for the most part you usually stay friends like before... but when your school goes up against theirs... who you gonna root for?? ya end up choosing a side to a degree... maybe 51/49 split... or maybe 90/10 or more... but you root more for 1 team/school

thats how i view it

It is easier to walk away and start something new than to work on something that already exists. If you read the aforementioned post he even states the same ideas, but with a slight twist of words. $40, but yet it is free? HMMMM......if you want to have a say.
Well best of luck on your new club and as Kekai mentioned, friendly competition.

Basically the reason I think this is a bad idea is having Portland and Seattle linked in any club is silly and more importantly I have noticed a lot of childish and power hungry individuals that instead of overcoming challenges in the club they represent they put their tail between their legs and leave. So IMO SE is better without a quitter in a decision making role.

I've done nothing to put down SE or the efforts of other folks. Please have at least a modicum of respect for us as we try something that is very difficult to say the least. We have been official for one day and yet you are already slamming us and putting us down.

I'll choose to let the other comments bounce as there seems to be a serious misconception about the role I played in the area this past year. Aparently thought, even those who understand the truth have decided to remain quiet so I suppose everyones persecption of the truth will remain the image they get from this thread.

Thanks for making it personal.

Over the past months, there have been some really hostile posts going on and a lot of misunderstandings that have led to some bad blood between folks. I have met and enjoyed time with most of them, so I have kept my mouth shut and not stirred the pot with my comments, in hopes that it would just go away. But I can not in good faith sit idle for this one.

These individuals have made a decision through their experiences and efforts to date to move on. They have not slammed nor aired their personal laundry in order to disrespect anyone or anything.

I see individuals who have worked long and hard hours on functions this past year in order to better the scion community, with little or no thanks. They worked to give you fond memories that you can reflect back upon and smile. I know I’ve got several that I can look back on and laugh. Like that picture of Leslie eating that burger. I’ve never personally talked to her, but I feel like I know her just from that picture.

Although natural, a bit of unhappiness is expected. But outright attacks on people who have made such a large contribution of time and effort for this community is uncalled for. I see no reason for such posts.

If you sit back for a second to think of the positive side of things, you will see that this is an opportunity. To tar and feather folks publicly like has been done, tells me that you have had better idea’s than they have or better direction for the club than the current route. You should take this as an opportunity to stand up and be a contributor, not an attendee. This is your opportunity to better the club of your choice.

I also am a SE member, but I will not be renewing this next month for reason that I will keep to myself. I will say that the opportunity to join a club that is exclusively (relatively) local is a positive in my book. To me, it’s the difference between a global company and small shop with a great product.

In closing, I’d like to address some of the hostile posts.

I do not think that this group will be giving you the reaction that you are looking for. All you will accomplish is alienating yourself from all the other folks who are here for a good time. I also want you to consider the shadow you cast on who ever you personally represent (if anyone).

Is there/will there be a club site for the new club to provide a solid reference to club goals, rules, and mission?

very true

All the above statements are true, the 3 who have started their own club and myself worked hard together, over the past few years to put together events for both the Community and our Club(s) that we're part of. Sometimes we got recognition for it, most often we did not. But we decided to continue on.

any personal differences that people have against any one individual or group, if any exist, should really be taken off public boards and addressed directly to the person/group. it doesn't get anything accomplished when brought out publicly other than upsetting those affected and turning people off from being part of the community that we all strive for.

again i wish the new group luck in the venture, which is really a difficult task to start from the ground up, and look forward to both any friendly competition and working together on any upcoming events, both on a personal level and club level.

I'm fairly new to SE. I surf a bit on Scion Life and Club xB, and I have heard some real negatives flying around mostly on the ScionLife site and Club xB. That's not what I signed up for. I originally thought about signing up because I met Jen And Kakei , CoreyAnn and Mo up in Seattle and thought, wow what great folks. Then I met Dustin and Gabby, equally nice folks. They are why I joined. Now they are starting a new club... well not sure what KK and Jen are doing, but they are not being critical of their friends thats for sure. One thing I know for sure, is change happens and it can be a positive thing if you want it to. I have been at events where Scionlife, Club xB, SE and Watora folks have all been together and guess what... it was fun! It still can be. We are simply welcoming a new group.
Lets leave the backbiting, gossip and mudslinging to the daytime soaps.. shall we.

Good luck Dustin, Mo and CoreyAnn.
You will be seeing Fish and myself.

You can count on it. A solid foundation will secure our future. We are working on a lot of the items and are hoping to get input from our members.
