Yay and Thanks CoreyAnn and Grr and Karma is a B Word (pics)
Yay:
My father took my husband and I down to Vegas and we came home with $2600! Besides just the winnings, we had a BLAST! Cory did those stupidly insane roof top rides on top of the Stratosphere casino and the New York New York and also got a new tattoo at some has-been 80's rock star's shop on the strip. We saw two shows, one at the Excalibur where we ate our dinner with our hands and watched a medieval-horse-knight show and, just before we left, a Vegas version of The Price is Right, hosted by that dude that hosted Supermarket Sweep.
Thanks CoreyAnn:
Thank you for sending us the disk of Cory bungee jumping! I don't know if it's a video or picture yet as we just got home tonight/morning and have not popped it into a computer to see what's doin'.
Grr:
SOB, mother effing crap and damn damn damn. I totally effed up my effing xB and not one but two effing trucks a few hours ago.
So we got home from Vegas at midnight and had to go right to our newspaper routes. The plan was that we'd split the route up and get it done quickly. So I get my share of the papers loaded and head off to my route which starts literally 2 blocks away from the newspaper warehouse. My SECOND newspaper in, I had to back up as I overshot a delivery. I did take note of the truck behind me but obviously not the HUGE and HEAVY chunk of metal something (say two inches thick, 6 feet long and 1 foot wide) hanging out the back.
So I backed rather quickly into it and sent it flying out of the truck. My back bumper hit their bumper too and when I got out to inspect how awful I had wrecked my car (it sounded awful), I didn't really see any major damage to my xB or any on their truck.
It's 3am in the morning and even though it made and ungodly noise, nobody came rushing out of the house. I drove back to the warehouse and backed into a parking spot (like I needed to back up some more, know what I mean?) and when I looked in my rear view mirror, I noticed half of my effing back window was busted out. Not only that but the frame around the window was all effed up pretty hard and the hatch. I also had a little damage to the side of the car but I see that bit is the same piece of metal as the part in back, by the window, that I messed up. My upper bumper is messed up with a gouge too.
I called the police to the warehouse. He couldn't write up a report on it since it was on private property but he did go knock on their door and give them all my information for me since it was 3 in the morning.
So before we go knocking on this poor person's door, we better checked for damage to the truck. I had looked and didn't see any before I drove the two blocks back to the warehouse. Well, sure enough, by knocking that BIG metal thing (I think it was aluminum), I wrecked the top of their truck bed. But, oh and this is just great, the metal thing had flown out of that truck and hit the mother effing truck next to it. Like, it wasn't bad enough that I wrecked my car, or that truck, ya know?
At least I have the money for the $500 insurance deductible. Thank you Bally's, Flamingo and Luxor.
Karma is a B Word:
On our way home from the airport, just an hour before I wrecked almost every car in Marysville, my father and I were teasing Cory about when he backed into a truck on the route, 2 years ago. I mean, this teasing lasted from the 128th street exit to the Marysville flats. We were having a good ol' time at his expense. It was a complete riot!
Ha ha, hee hee, ho ho.
I came back from wrecking all these cars and showed Cory what I had done. Was he upset about the damage? No. He laughed his **** off.
The End
Feel free to have a few laughs at my expense. I deserve it.

Ouch, guess we won't give you any guff about the side skirts or the tabs on the rear bumper hanging down anymore, don't want it to happen to us! Either that you "fling"metal @ us w/ your B
(as Erik nervously knocks on wood...)
I gotta drop my car off with some shop that Progressive has the hook up with on Tuesday. I'm quite upset that I don't have it set up in my policy to get a rental car. I've got to decided whether to try and just tough it out with the one car or spend some more of the Vegas winnings on a rental. The good thing about being stranded at home all day is that I cant drive and go spend money. So if I got the rental, we'd have to pay for it AND I would have to use it to go shopping, lol. Yes, I would HAVE to, lol.
I'll have to remember to take my camera with me when I drop it off. I'd take pictures now but I got the back window all taped up nicely.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you are okay and no one got hurt.
A few things to consider…. Make sure they use all original parts, they will try to use generic parts and they don't fit the same. You have the right to ask for original parts. You can also use any body shop you want you don't have to use the one recommended by Progressive. Make sure your window is original Toyota glass or from a dealer, there are some generic ones out there and they look odd, and/or the tint in them will not match your other windows just something that annoys me.
good luck..
I would like to see some pics hope you can get us some.

Mo, that's great advice and just in the nick of time. I'll bring those things up to them tomorrow for sure. Yeah, they gave me the option to go elsewhere but it was just so much more convenient and faster to just take it to them.
Is there a way to check and make sure they used the right glass and original parts?
And yes, I'll get pictures for sure. Hopefully I bring the good camera and not the one that takes pictures like this...
Cory riding the spinny ride on top (and off the side of) the Stratosphere casino which looks like a Space Needle rip-off but 3 times the height.

Cory also rode the roller coaster on top of the New York New York casino too.

On the glass there are two or three vendors that toyota uses for glass, but there are several generic ones out there. The two pices that they put on our box that were generec were crap.
Did you break the back side window or the the back window?
Also for a rental if you get a weekly rate most places will give you a discount and the body shop probably has a rental company they use. You should be able to get into somthing for $125 for the week. possibly less.
Good luck!
CoreyAnn we need to take that trip to Vegas!!!

It was the back-back window. I suspect I'll need an entire new hatch too. I suspect that based on absolutely no knowledge of body repair though, lol. Ya'll can place bets tomorrow when I get the picture... I'm to know what end is up in a few days after they evaluate the car.
Um Kekai, I can't believe you went up the Stratosphere after seeing you on the bungee bridge, lol. When we were at the top, outside, there was a lady desperately holding on to dear life about 15 feet in from the edge. I couldn't figure out why she even bothered to go up, lol.
I'm not a fan of heights but I was just fine up there with the double fenced off edge thing going on. But Cory was the only one of us stupid enough to not only go on but be excited to go on those rides.

oh i never went outside on the top/exposed area... just the revolving restarante
something about being able to see below of where i was standing makes me all not so good with heights

Your stomach hurts looking at the pictures and I almost threw mine up while watching it live, lol.
So I got the car all dropped off today. I didn't take the tape off but took the best pictures I could anyway.
I demanded original parts and they laughed at me. Well not literally but they insisted that they could use whatever the hell the felt like using and that it's that way with all insurance companies. However, they did say they likely won't need to replace anything but the glass and that since the glass has a defrost thing in it that they'll probably have to use Toyota glass anyway. And if they did use after market glass, they'll ensure it matches.
I didn't feel like arguing about it any further. They were trying to be very reassuring that it'll be just how it was and if I wasn't 100% happy, they'd keep working on it until I was. Note that I said that they were "trying to be very reassuring". I know that they were just trying to say whatever they could to get me to shut up and go away.
On the way home, they called me to say they estimated the damages to be $1700 or so and blah blah blah. Should take 6 repair days to fix.
Since I couldn't get a good shot of it from the outside, here is where I messed up the metal behind where my glass normally would be.

I don't believe you can see anything in this picture but there is damage all along that seam. Um, where there would be a seam if I were to have glass, that is. There is one big dent in there somewhere too.

The other side of that first shot.

Nice gouge in the bumper. Oh, and that lower molding seem's clip feel off in the accident too ;)

Theres a dent where the X is. The "upd" writing is marking where I had previous damage. Yes, I bought Ratcity's old side skirts a long time ago. No, Doug hasn't installed them for me yet. Yes, I should probably ask Doug to install them for me first before I go complaining that he hasn't done it yet but I'm a girl and we do stuff like that.
