Default Anyone been to Big Bear Mountains?

Me and a few buddies are considering going this weekend on Saturday. Any tips?

I hear its free if we don't snowboard? Is that right? We are BROKE.

Can anyone reccomend places in/around big bear? Also, can the xB make it up the mountains? With 5 young adults, can it haul ___ up there?

True, if you're just hanging out. As far as hauling butt up the mountain....Don't count on it. You'll be moving as fast as a herd of turtles!!!

Alright, just making sure we don't roll down the hills. ;)

Where's a good place? I am not familiar with Big Bear. Also, will they allow us to bring sleds and our own snowboards to use?

Is there someone on watch at all times or its just a free for all? Or are the procedures similar to the beach?

Nope, you can't bring any snow toys. They have a bunch of "snow *****" watcching your every move. You have to pay to use the runs and lifts. You'll have to find your own spot off the side of the road when you go up if you want to have "free fun".

If you have a box, good luck. Turtle is right. You might want to check the road conditions. It's going to snow on Friday you will need chain oops I meant cables if you’re not lowered. If you guys go be very careful "k". We usually go in the summer. As for things to do well its a city with a lake pretty much.

And, as for going to Big Bear broke is not a good idea. That's like going to Disneyland with no money. I don't want you to think I am being a jerk but I don’t want you to go and not have fun. In the summer is cool you can have a picnic at the lake but when there is snow its different. We get a cabin out there and try to stay warm.

yup me and exmurderblah are gonna hang out with the parental units for the weeked. Let me advise all of you planning ot go up the mountain this weekend, you WILL need chains!!! If your car is lowered don't even torture it! The high for the weekend is supposed to be 32 degrees and will get as low as 2 degrees. It is supposed to snow and rain a few inches thursday and may have mroe through the weekend. Bring warm clothes and hope to see you there. Maybe we can learn to snowboard!!!

mt. high is a nice alternative. it is much easier to get to in my opinion. the grade isnt as steep and you honestly dont feel like you are driving in the mountains really. have fun, and like penguin said, be prepared, and bring chains!
