Default CAI in CA? Need advice

SO i live in Cali, and i know that there is no CARB approved CAI here, but i wanted to know 3 things:

1) Does anyone have cold air in cali

2) which one would be best

3) what do you guys do when it comes time for smog

I really would like to get cold air and i have been wondering this for a long time

Actually there are 2 companie that i can think of that have CAI & are smog legal. 1 would be AEM & the other i think is Injen, but not too sure about that. Its pretty much up to you what you decide to get. AEM has their CAI w/ the by pass valve. Then there is injen with the short ram the converts to CAI. The problem with these is 1 you're going to have to cut the pipe to fit the by pass on there & 2 you're going to have to convert the CAI to short ram when you want to. As for smog, should be a problem, i use to take cars with intake, headers, & exhaust for smog & passed without having to "pay under the table" if you know what i mean.

there is no CARB approved CAI/SR. The tC has a charcoal filter which is necessary to pass Smog. Until a company can come out with an intake with the charcoal incorporated into their filter, then there will be no CARB Legal intakes...

unless AEM, which makes the TRD intake is false advertising, it is advertised as CARB legal..

you can change out your charcoal filter for a hepa filter which I dont think uses charcoal, so are you saying if you put a hepa filter in your stock TC intake, then you are now not carb legal?

Second bold sentence on this website at the top

Upgrade with peace of mind - All AEM performance cold air intake systems are C.A.R.B. exempt or pending exemption (50 smog states legal)

incorrect. AEM has released non 50 stage legal intakes that have indeed been rejected and is not pending...
a real straight up NO.

1) I do

2) I believe there is a review here somewhere, complete with graphs. I have the Injen one, myself.

3) I think the train of thought here is that since smog isn't required for another several years, no one is currently worrying about it aside from being pulled over and having to pass inspection tests. Other than that, people are banking that there will already be workarounds by then.

Ok..awhile back a poster here siad it perfectley. If it makes your car faster or cooler...in California it would be illegal. They were not far off. CAI's can be described as 50 state legal..BUT look closely. The fine print says "Have been approved or are pending" sounds like yeah sure all 50 states have approved them but I have yet to see a CARB approved CAI.

NOW...if I am wrong SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME! I really want one but if you get caught with them here the police can and often do tow your whip away! :-(

Police won't tow your ride just because of a CAI. You have to really do something wrong (warrants, outstanding tickets, street racing, etc.) to get that honor.

The intakes for xBs are CARB certified at least up to the 05s--the tC is what the original question was on.
