I never realized they could ticket you for takin out your airbag. I mean what if you have health issues that dont allow having an airbag

your lucky you got off with just a fix it ticket, he could have impounded your car right then and there for having no airbag... its considered a felony last time i checked.

just put your stock wheel on, and it will pass the visual, which is all they need, to see the wheel. you dont have to put the air bag or any of the wires back on, just chill.

damn Ali, when did you become a cop????? lol. good luck on that situation. I told a cop the reason why i have it is because I needed a better alarm and my car was involved in an accident which blew the airbag out.

STFU Kirby. You know Niole flashed him a smile and told him you were her slow brother and she was teaching you to drive. That is why he let you go.

Put the stock wheel in and take it to Lomita sheriffs. It will cost you $15 but they have been good to me for fix-it tickets.

I drove around for a long time with a gutted steering wheel, the cops never said anything. Is it really illegal to remove them? I know a whole lot of people do it.

What is the vehicle code violation? Does it say on your ticket?

I have been looking around for at least an hour now and all I can find is rumors.

I did find this, but I don't hink it is an active organization.

http://www.safercar.gov/airbags/page...BDeactiv.htm#1

This is the only vehicle code violation involving airbags I could find

M 27317 No person shall install or reinstall for compensation, or who distributes or sells any previously deployed air bag that is part of an inflatable restraint system, if the person knows that the air bag has been previously deployed.

you cannot remove any federally mandated safety equipment from your car, like air bags and seat belts. period.

you want a car with no airbags, buy an old one, something made in the early 90's.

and air bags save lives. just ask my gf, exactely a year ago today she totalled her little xa, but atleast she walked away from it thanks to her air bag. so those stupid morons who think they are unnecessary can go remove them, or buy a car without them, and then get into a horrible accident and loose all their teeth on the steering wheel and maybe, just maybe start to think that airbags are useful, that or die. natural selection at its best, if your too stupid to understand how an airbag saves a life, and think you don't need one, than i am more than happy for you to leave the world a less stupid place.

also, nascar doesn't have airbags because they are completly strapped down and restrained inside the car with seat belts and harnesses and head and neck restraints, and they are also wearing helmets with full face protection. while ridingin a roll cage.

Wow. Just wow.

And yes, it's a felony to tamper with any OEM safety equipment. As for old cars, if it didn't have it from the factory, it doesn't have to have it.
