If we stayed with that ratio, and gas prices are at 4.05 right now, then minimum wage would be around 24 bucks an hour.

What I don't understand is when I was a kid, I remember 3rd grade science being told that the earth's fossil fuels will be exhausted in 40 years. Well, that was 20 years ago, and people are surprised now? GG for our government not doing anything about this problem in the first place.

Gas prices aren't the only thing that suck. Has anyone see the prices of Rice? Holy hell! Yoshinoya better not raise their prices, otherwise I might start losing weight!

Everything is Relative to the Era we speak.
If you were driving around in the Sixties. the price of gas though cheap by Today's Standards was a concern for many owners back then.
Any cars, Foreign or Domestic, 30+ mpg were virtually unheard of. No Hybrids, No Propane, No NG Powered cars, No Electric cars in General use.
A lot of us were driving American Muscle Cars.
In my case, my DD was a 1968 SS Camaro with a blueprinted 427 Corvette 'rat' engine. 500bhp+
A Street/Strip car that did a 9.55 1/4mile My gas mileage was 3mpg! YMMV
A lot of people were hissing and moaning just like today when the gas price jumped to .33 gal.
Example, I would cross the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (9 mi.) to see a friend. The round trip was 18 miles.
It cost me 6 gal. x .33= $1.98
So at the prevailing mininum wage of $1.65 it would cost me more than I made to cross the Bridge and back.
It was the only car that I can watch the gas needle go down as I drive!
Needless to say, I was happy to get rid of that gas hog. That is why a lot of people got rid of their Muscle Cars
because of Rising gas prices back then.
Kinda wish I had warehoused it not knowing then what I know now what those cars are worth today, but that is another story.

And some of you wonder why I went to work on cruise ships? I'm on pace to only have to put gas in my tC four times the rest of this year.

BTW greetings from Europe where gas is over $9 per gallon!

Ummm... the last person that asked suffered a massive stroke. If you want to run the numbers, we carry somewhere around 4000 tons of fuel oil or roughly 1.1 Million gallons. If you use today's diesel prices as a reference... well... you better sit down and call your wife before hitting the equal button.

BTW we get over 50 FEET per gallon... and that's super efficient for a 100,000+ tonne ship.

My favorite quote, courtesy of the Daily Show grabbing some random Joe's take on gas prices:

I just close my eyes and start pumping
Also, apparently Europe is facing $9 / gallon. May have to go from the 1500cc xB to a 500cc motorcycle.

It costs me $12 to fill my tank. I've got 600cc's, get 50MPG, can run 12 seconds in the 1/4, and that tank lasts almost a week.

My tC hasn't been driven for almost 3 weeks. I'm actually strongly considering the idea of selling the damn thing. Flooring the gas pedal feels like idling, and it's litterally burning money.

I just need to get saddle bags first so I can still make grocery runs.

How big is your dog? There's always saddle bags? That'd be one UNHAPPY dog! Maybe a WW2 style side car?

She's 18lbs, but I'd probably get a Honda CBR600RR hehe. As far as I know... there are no baskets/side car type accessories for a sport bike. Now touring and cruiser bikes, there's a crapload to choose from.

There are universal saddle bags and they will hook up. You can also do a tail bag, tank bag, or large backpack, or even a combination of all of the above! I've seen it done. But at 18 lbs, that's a good sized dog.

Hey, I'm sure it could use the exercise....

JK, I'm a dog lover too.
