I AGREE
Dave.........please stop with the jokes. LOL! See guys heres an example of a knuckle head....LOL! Thanks Dave for that input, but I dont think Scinergy got Judge Judy. LOL!
As I stated in the Scion Nationals thread, I thought they did a really great job last year judgeing the event. They took a lot of time and looked at every car very closely. I am sure it will be the same this year........

Yeah Id love to win a trophy. But what Ive won is far greater than any plastic piece of crap. Ive got great friends with the same interests. And thats worth more than all the Trophys on the Planet

if your doing mods to win shows your doing it for all the wrong reasons. do it cause it makes you happy and it reflects your personality, not a rulebook
THIS IS THE LAST THING I AM GOING TO SAY ABOUT THIS
take it the way it goes man, it was all for fun and for show dont be poor sports or cry babies, our team took 2 but even if we took none we still had fun so lets not cry too much inside....

Even at NOPI here n PHX they had a street cat and a body mod cat, pretty stupid to judge a car with a body kit(most of which are ugly) against a "stock" looking body car. But that's just my opinion
It does suck really bad but i dont care or expect to win anything not even a rafel
i just want to be able to tell my car apart in the parking lot compared to the others, if i dont win im not missing out
but a lot of clubs or teams try realy hard and get snuffed
im just happy with my car screw the trophys and politics!
cant we all just get along!!!!

Darren, I do see it your way completely about shows. Especially raffles. Raffles is like gambling. When you go to a slot machine, do you expect to hit the jackpot. No..... you may buy like 100 raffle tickets and 2 others only buy 1 each. and there is only 1 prize. It can still go either way. If you get butt hurt that you lost because you bought 100 raffle tickets, I will just call you an idiot for doing that. Thats just how I see things.
Like somebody above said, just let this post die and lets all worry about The Scion Nationlas now, i just hope this post does not get out of hand like the other one did, cause if it does, its getting locked, thanks.
Yay...it that would be a good idea...to have your peers vote. That would be a good overall show. I did have a lot of fun out there. And to the guy from Phoenix ( I didn't get your name) I totally understand how you feel. The guy how won the trophy is from my club...and he really wasn't expecting it. Either way...what's done is done...this is not a Tour de France situation....HAHAHA!
I guess I might as well put my 2 cents in cause I “been there done that”….
Car Shows are like conventions it is a place to show off your personality, skillz, and product. There are turn key show cars that the owners did not even do anything but sign for it; there are cars that the owners do all the work themselves. Regardless it doesn’t matter how much you spend, how much you have labored, how much everyone else likes it, how many of this and that. It all comes down to effort, plain and simple. I rather hear people all day long talk about how clean my ride is or check this out, look at that, how he do that, where he get that and so on and so on.
I grew up in the “mini truck” days it was all about display, paint, chrome; to me those days had there place and time. Today I think it is all about theme, clean execution, style and functionality. IMO the show scene got carried away the last 10 years with quantity and extremeness. That is why the VIP, EXEC, LUX vibe is happening, people are looking for something that has all the technical but elegant look and feel. So yeah I have won some trophies with this project but IMO if you are really into having a show car the best trophies/accolades are the “people/spectators” that take the time to stop look at your car and spend time going over everything and then looking for the owner to give them props.
So don’t hate the judges they have guidelines and criteria; If you want a trophy and the show is based on how many monitors, custom paint, billet pieces you better have more than the other guy. If you are there to enjoy the scene and IMO have the best parking then you got what you paid for and a trophy is just one more thing you might be taking home.
One last thing I would like to say that IMO is becoming a major problem within the Scion community is “sponsorship”. It is not just free parts it is commitment and it is what you can do for them, not what they can do for you! Most people that know me and that I have spent a small fortune on my “Toy xBox” also know I am very discriminating on what I put into a project. I made myself a name by showing the skillz I have, documenting and sharing what I have done, and companies noticed that and that is how I was fortunate to get my project to where it is now with the sponsors that came on board with me after seeing what I have done with their product.
This to me is another reason why people don’t understand judging both pro and con. I would much rather see a well executed show vehicle that follows a theme then one that looks like it can’t decide what the current hottest product is, but that is my opinion.
Summary car shows are for display, Sponsorships are for those that have something to offer the companies to sell off of. The long/short of it “you gotta pay if your gonna play”
