Default I messed up and forgot the ebrake... grrr.. :(

Well tonight i went to eat out and i came back out and saw my car was parked in a different spot.. i was scared as hell.. and i go check there was scratch marks on my driver side rear bumper and the bumper was poping out slightly.. pushed it in and i popped back to normal.. then i noticed a note on my windshield.. somehow i can't believe it.. but i forgot to put the ebrake on and the car rolled down into another parking spot.. and hit another persons car.. i've been trying to call them.. and they haven't responeded.. but i don't kno what to do to fix the scratches... grr.. there like scuffs no chip paint except inside the corner where the rear bumper popped out...

i just got my tc 4 days ago.. i'm really ____ed at my self.. and would appreciate any help. i tried some of the turtle was scratch remover and polisher.. the red and white stuff and used a mircrofiber cloth and it didn't do anything.. well it looked like it worked a lil but can't tell since its night time..

Can i get this fixed at a dealer? and how much does it usually cost to fix scratches? it looks like it just scratched up the clear coat and not the paint.

edit* here are the pics

Get some rubbing compound. Last time I moved, I accidently rubbed my paint with the corner of a really heavy cardboard box and scratched my paint pretty good. I used some 3M rubbing compound I found at the local Schucks auto parts place in the section they have the auto refinishing stuff at, ie sandpaper, bondo, etc. This stuff:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...artnumber=3900

This stuff is normally used to remove 1500 grit sanding marks(which it does very well, I also fixed a few rock chips on my hood). Only a few seconds by hand and the scratches were gone, and it was buffed to a high gloss and was indistinguishable from the rest of the paint. Follow up with your favorite wax and yer done. Mine was on a metal panel right behind the passenger door, but I think it would work just as well on the plastic bumper.

This is why I always park in gear!

I think I've got some type of disorder when it comes to the e-brake. After I read this I even went outside and checked mine. It's scary.....good luck getting those scuffs out. Also, try Meguiars Scratch X.

I thought if you had the E-brake off and the car is still in gear that it would be ok?

Granted i always make sure my e-brake is up when i'm parked. It's a habit from my old car as well same spot so im used to it. But somtimes i cant remember if i put it on..so i have to go back and check =o)

That is not bad damage at all. I would Bring the car to a auto body guy they have the proper tools to fix it. They have special buffer wheel. that would be removed in two mins. Don't use compound on it it will mark it it up more. good luck

Wrong! If you get the compound I listed above, it will leave a nice polished surface. Just dont get a heavy or extra cut compound. A FINE compound is what you want.

But like I mentioned above, I've never used the stuff on the plastic bumpers, though I don't see why there would be a problem.

Did you use the fine cut stuff? Might have been just because it was on plastic, I donno, since i've never hadda buff something outta plastic.
