i ordered an AEM cai and this is what i got....
NO!!!!!!!!!! you got the better one. It runs straight into the fender well. I had that one before switching to the perrin intake. The other one your thinking of with all the twists and turns is a waste of money IMO. This creates direct flow into the throttle body.
^^^^ this guy said it right. The whole idea is to push more air in with the least amount of friction blah blah blah. . . plenty of threads explain this one.
The one with the twists and turns was so that there would be minimal problems for the dealership to have to deal with. If you notice most of the dealer "TRD" parts don't do very much. Just another way to score another buck on unsuspecting consumers.
I got the whole TRD springs, shocks, and struts with labor for under $350. If you know where to look, you can get anything much cheaper then what the dealer offers.
You're fine, don't worry about it, install, test drive, and enjoy.

you must of ordered it from hopupracing, the pics they use to describe what your getting aren't for your car. I talk to AEM tech and they told me the one with all the bends is for de-tunning and only produced for toyata/Scion as a dealer only option. I got the same one you have and it's fine. Fits perfectly after taking all the wheel well parts out ect. And one other cool thing....if you don't have fogs, you can pop the cover and use it for a cold air induction right to the filter for the track.....it's the good one bud !!! DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY !!! You dun good ........
Oh yeah, if your worried about water you can modify it and put the bypass valve in line in case it sucks water. I made it the the florida hurricanes and summer rains with no problem without it...so it's up to you.
