baller status lens ftw!

I think my next lens purchase may be the 17-40 because I dont think Id ever use the 2.8 for a focal length that wide, and I rarely shoot wide angle indoors. So I couldnt justify the cost. Either that or the 50 1.4. not anytime soon however

btw what happened to your camera that it needs to be recserviced?
do you have a back up dslr?

I decided on that lens based on the events I was shooting. Mostly indoor events with large crowds. It got kinda awkward to have people behind me move out of my way whenever I backed up to do full body shots of models like at HIN-LA inside the convention center.

As for my gear, I dropped my body, flash, and lens at the Sciontific show last year and the sharpness has never been the same. This is the 3rd time it's going in. Even my flash doesn't seem to work as before. Either that or I just plain suq at taking pics. My back up is a 20D but I'm planning to sell it so I never bring it out.

The extra full stop with the 2.8 over the kind of slow 4.0 is really worth the extra $$ for hte type of stuff your talking about. Wise choice I say.
