Default mikochu: lost in san diego!

Hey folks,

I recently graduated college and now I'm taking a month's vacation before starting my full-time job. Right now, I'm in Orlando International Airport waiting to depart to my connecting flight to DC, then to San Diego (first class! woohoo!). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to check out in San Diego.

I'm there to rest, relax, with the occasional adventure. I'd appreciate suggestions for things to do during the day, as well as things to do during the night. I've never been to downtown San Diego, but is everything walking distance? A place to hang out and drink coffee during the beginning of the day would be nice. As for night life, I don't go clubbing, but I do enjoy a nice local beer (IPA?) or wine. I hear there are a few good breweries around town that I may have to check out...

Also, can anyone recommend a nice restaurant for me to take my relatives who have happily opened their home to me?

All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Awesome!! you'll have to come out to one of our meets!! What are the dates you'll be out? Also hit up www.scionevolution.org and find the San Diego chapter in the forums, we'll help ya out with whatever you like.

Dude! Congratulations on graduating. I can't believe you're coming out here!!! SD is awesome, though I've only been here for a few months. It's a little too cold to go in the water (unless you're ok with the water being 60 degrees), but it's still nice enough outside that you can walk around.

If you're into sunsets, check out the view from Sunset Cliffs or near La Jolla Cove. If you're into golf there's plenty of courses to play. You can visit the San Diego Zoo and check out Balboa Park, or if you're feeling adventurous you can visit Tijuana (though you might want to go with someone who knows TJ).

The Gaslamp is cool, but mostly it's trendy and just a bunch of upscale shops and clubs/bars. There's a good mix though, including a few wine bars (like Grape) and Irish bars (like Dublin Square).

If you have the time, check out the Chargers at the Murph (a.k.a. Qualcomm Stadium). They play the Chiefs this Sunday.

You can't visit San Diego and not have fresh seafood. Point Loma Seafood is freakin' awesome (note: it's cash only). Also check out Old Town for a taste of what the city was like 200 years ago, and for some mighty fine Mexican food (Old Town Mexican Cafe isn't too bad).

Lestat's is a cool coffee shop to hang out at in Normal Heights, otherwise there's a Starbucks on almost every street corner.

And of course, there's the weekly Scion meet-ups at Fusion

Thanks Nate and Fugee.

I just got in tonight. I'll be here until the 20th. I'm going to explore downtown San Diego tomorrow, during the day. I'm probably going to wing my whole week here, but at least now I know of some good places to check out.

Thanks for the recommendations! Keep them coming!
