Please help me......
My AC compressor randomly blew up, and when I took it to the dealership, they told me that it wasn't under the warranty because it isn't internal damage. Even though when I drive, there is a piece of metal getting thrown around in the fan INSIDE (which you can now see because the whole outer casing blew up) And when I asked the guy at the dealership how much it would be for them to fix it....he told me $2100!!!!! WHAT!!?? I am a college student, and CANNOT afford that! And when I asked how much it was just for the part itself, he told me $1800. That is a flat out lie, and I know it. I know they are expensive, but they ARE NOT that expensive.
So if anyone could help me out...that would make me cry. My car is undrivable at the moment until I find a shorter belt so I can bypass the AC condensor (Oh, and my AC is stuck on ON as well) I don't want to drive it have the chance of having the pully attatched to the AC condensor seize.
PLEASE HELP. PLEASE.

if your car is undrivable, then how can it NOT be under warranty? this makes no sense...sounds to me like the dealership doesn't want to deal with your problem. i'd take it to another dealership or call another dealership and ask for the price, it may be different. sometimes i will call 3 dealerships for a price on a part and get 3 different answers.
Scion of Orange...off of Tustin.
I should have known better than to go there. Every time I go there, I get horrible service.
You guys are right, I am going to call another dealership.
I'll let you know how it goes.

So, I called Scion of Huntington Beach (where I had a great experience when I bought the car), and told him the situation. He says that it should be covered, and to call Toyota of Orange and talk to the services manager. So I did, and the manager was talking to me like I was 5 years old. I know about cars. I know more than your average teenage boy, and I told him this so we didn't waste time with him trying to explain to me what a pulley is. And he was just making up stupid excuses as to why they can't fix it. So I am fed up with them, and I gave him a huge lecture about how unsatisfied I am with their service, and that I will let everyone know that they do not take care of you. So ya. And now I just found an AC Compressor for $200, and I am very happy. If all else fails though, I will go to a junk yard....though I find them so sad to see all these cars just sitting there getting raped and torn apart.

maybe after you get it fixed...call scion corp about scion of orange? (profiling you and talking to you like you were 5, and for saying that it wasn't under warranty...if another dealership fixes it.)
funny, at crown i have had horrible experience with their sales people and managerial people, but when it comes to service and the parts department, it's like i'm at a different dealership.

Ya, Scion of Long Beach (sorry, earlier I said it was Scion of HB, but I thought it was that, but I was accidently transfered to LB, damn 411!) gave me Corp's number. So I think that's what I'll do.

I was in a collision a while ago, but the compressor was not touched at all, and so that's why I think they won't do it. I don't know.
Last night I took it to my friends shop, and he broke it open some more, and the inside of the outer shell looked like someone had given it to a dog to play with....it was all chewed up. And I guess the AC was stuck on ON, and that's why it was making such a horrid noise. But now it's all fine.
Did you know we don't have a clutch on our AC compressors????? We have this little rubber thingy instead.....very strange.
Anyways, I really gave up on the dealerships now, because if they saw it now, they would see someone had tampered with it......or maybe they would think the thing REALLY blew up.......but I doubt that.
