Default questions about UNLV aka UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA LAS VEGAS.

not sure if this is part of LAS VEGAS section but ill just put it here..

soo i plan on attending UNLV in 2 months and i was wondering if anyone has attended or is attending currently..

my questions are how are the dorms? are they small and tiny where u can only bring ur laptop, clothes? or can u bring like a bunch of stuff like ur bed and tv and etc?

and i was also wondering about the parking... are the parking lots far away from the dorms? because i dont trust parking my car far away and dorming...

i wanna live in a apartment but paying 1g a month for rent then pay gas, eletric, and internet bills.. just for a single room is bull shizz.. i live in a 2 bed and 2 bath room apartment right now in a nice city for 1300.. why in the blues heck would i pay 1 g for a single bedroom... but yea if anyone has some good information about UNLV n apartments around las vegas let me know please!

i cant help you much with the dorm situation because i never lived in the dorms... i have been in them and they're livable i'll leave it at that. parking sucks again i didnt live in the dorm, but parking is a nice lil walk to campus. dont you have to live on campus for a year for residency? my suggestion is find a roommate its A LOT cheaper that way. college life in vegas kinda sucks, because we werent built as a college city. once you get around and meet people it'll be should be fun.

mmmm thanks for the info. and do i have to live on campus for residency? i thought if u move to a apartment or w/e in nevada and u change all ur personal stuff like drivers license and etc and file for residency i would have to wait 1 year before becoming a nevada resident? and yeaaaa everywhere that is looking for roommates are actually like 500-700. and i can get a 1 bed 1 bath for 600-700 or a studio room for 550. and its near campus also.. but iono :X

yea i dont know the all the rules for residency. one of my best friends went to university of arizona and for the first year had no choice but to live in the dorm. some kind of rule, but i dont know if that applies in nv. dorm is probably the best bet the first year, because you'll meet new people and get acquainted with your surroundings. i really wouldn't recommend living in an apt or studio near campus. honestly they aren't the best places to live in.

I know where you can get your car serviced.

I think UNLV has a large population off non-traditional students (older) so I think their dorms may be lacking. I never had a HUGE problem with parking but I also went to school mostly at night.
