Thanks Mike, I'll give them a call for some pricing. I'm thinking whether I should just buy everything I need online and have an audio professional install it.

2 places. Best Buy or Circuit City. comes with install warranty and any head unit is free install and you can also finance with no interest for 12 months. Plus that store will not close its doors on you. I recommend the Best Buy in Rancho Cucamonga. Never packed and intalled that day within a couple hrs. the installer there drives a Scion too if that helps.

**just stay away from Al and Eds in Ontario Mills. RIP OFFS

i went to al & eds the other day for some speaker wire, you know what they tell me? "we only carry monster cable" (and i know what that means...expensive)

here's a little secret about monster cable, i used to work at guitar center and we had a monster cable rep come in to talk to us...you know what he told us?

"the truth is, our cable in all of our lines, isn't really better than a regular cable, it's just the same regular wire that everyone else uses. our shielding might be thicker than the cheap stuff, and we use gold plating on the tips, but the main thing the customer's are paying for is the lifetime warranty and the name brand."

i can't tell you the guys name, mainly because i can't remember, but also for his protection. but...just because i said this to shed light on the rip off that is monster cable, doesn't mean you should go buy cheap crap. cheap stuff is cheap stuff. at LEAST, get something in the middle.

Yeah, I know it's a bit of a drive, but if your looking for stuff beyond the normal Sony and other names....that Best Buy and Circuit City have then go for it...but there is not much to choose from especially if your an audiophile..I like the speaker selection Autobacs offers especially the DLS and Focal stuff..

Thanks for all your inputs, this will be my first purchase for a headunit.

this is the unit I'm thinking about getting AVIC-D3

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Lcv3Wnp...50&I=130AVICD3

I know about CC and BB stores, which usually cost more, but has warranty with their installation. But I'm not sure if they are willing to do the bypass for the dvd playback while driving? (I know its illegal, and I did all my reading from SL and AVIC411.com)

If I walk into a store, what would be a reasonable price to purchase and installed?

On a side note, I'm also trying to see if a friend of mine can get me this unit at dealer cost and I will take up some of your install offers.

The problem with that is some shops dont do installs on products that were not purchased from them...IE Autobacs will not.
