Saw this thing on the news about 68 cars getting impounded, just woundering if any of you got busted, for after market parts.

 

I saw pictures in the Daily Bulletin a couple of weeks ago showing a couple of civics being crushed. They were confiscated street racers........

 

Thats so lame!

 

As I recall they were crushed more for having possible stolen parts rather than illegal intakes and such. More like engine swaps and such.

 

i kno its a ivic, but my heart just falls when you here a car being crushed.... stupid people who steal stuff....

 

I don't think all of it is stolen stuff. Its just that when you swap the motor, the VIN # of the motor wont match the car's VIN and cops automatically think that its stolen. You just have to provide proof that the motor was bought legit.

An example of this would be at HIN San Mateo where cops were checking every car that rolled into the show and they pulled an Eclipse to the side cause it had been painted several times and the VIN #'s were covered. They started taking apart the car and couldn't find the VIN so it was towed and impounded. The guy then showed the cops his pink slip and etc. but they said something like they couldn't do anything. I dunno whats happened lately about this story.

 

i just herd that they went on a rampage and impounded every car with any modifications done to it, if thats trur its ridiculous

 

cops tend to hate the tuner world, and the idiots who street race make it even worse.
