Default San Diego Area members! Roll call and help needed

Hey Guys,
Posted in here a while back about a potential move from NJ out to SD... well Im here right now and just got done interviewing and landed an offer with a June 1st start date.

So i will be coming out here super soon and would like to meet up with some fellow SL'ers
considering i dont know anyone other then my gf and her small group of friends I look forward to making some new friends, so let me know whos around!

Also on a side note, Im looking for a place to live.... my office is in mission viejo right now and soon to be irvine after the move so Id like to be somewhere halfway between PB in SD and my office that isnt supppper expensive to live. Can anyone make any recommendations?????

Thanks so much guys and I'll be seeing you soon!

I live in mission viejo and work in Irvine. You know that Mission viejo is an hour north of san diego right?? Irvine is about an hour and 20 mins from SD without traffic. There is no such thing as cheap in so cal!LOL J/K

Check out The promenade apts in MV...there not to bad. Also i hear Hidden hills in Laguna niguel is reasonable.

If your looking for somewhere in the middle between SD and Irvine you'll wanna checkout Oceanside or Carlsbad perhaps. Hit me up if you need any help or Questions....

So i take it your GF lives in PB then......now i gotcha......

Anywho good luck man, Oceansides definetly the way to go. Hit me up if you have any questions about anything. Theres probably more SL people closer to the SD area. Not alot happens in the south OC area. Its either LA, SD or North OC.
I know Scion Evolution and Alpha Squad both have meets and stuff down in the SD area. Heck they even do cruises and stuff together. Let me know if you need any contact info for either, any or all car clubs.
I happen to know a couple people in the Scion community.....

Let me know when ya get to town and maybe we can get some peeps together for a meet.

Laters bro and welcome to So-Cal!

I will be moving to San Diego soon. I will be moving to San Diego starting Mid July, but for sure I'll start living in San Diego by Mid August. I'll be living my mom in Mira Mesa area. I DO NOT own a Scion, but HAVE been in the Scion community for a little over a year. I am the head of the San Diego Chapter for Scions R Us. I'll figure out meets and all that with other clubs as soon as I move down there. If you have any questions, please do no hesitate to ask. As for my mom and I are still searching for a place to live ourselves.

Recommendation : Bite the bullet and live closer to work than the GF. Irvine's not much of a drive to PB (as Chef said a little over an hour) and you'll be on the freeway most of it. I did Disneyland in and hour and 15 minutes from Mira Mesa so yeah not much of a drive. Not to mention it would seem like visits would be restricted to weekends and holidays. Thank god for internet and webcams.

Going to work you'll have to deal with the Camp Pendleton and Border Check Traffic... Not fun. As well as adding at least an hour to your commute possibly more. I used to work for a shuttle company and I'm very much aware of the traffic conditions in that stretch. Oh and there's no way around it seeing how the area is all restricted Military land up until and past the check point.

As for making new friends... that's the easy part. If you're looking to join a Scion club we have ScionEVOlution, AlphaSuad and Revoluscion as our resident Scion car clubs. SE meets 2x's a month one dealer and one fun time meet where we do something offbeat as a club. June 20th we're hitting the Zoo and some of our SoCal chapter will be coming down as well. June 6th is our Dealer meet. It's down in Chula Vista which is about 20 minutes from PB down south. If you'd like to come by you are more than welcome to. Alpha is in Escondido (about 25 minutes east from O'side) and Revoluscion I think is in Claremont (about 25 minutes south of O'side). Our SE SoCal chapter might be closer if you chose to live in Irvine/MV. You might also want to look at Balliztiks which is up there in the Irvine area (am I right?) or possibly roughly there about.

wow thanks guys, i appreciate the heads up.

what towns are good to look at thats around oceanside?
maybe a little more north?

The drive to the gf wont be bad youre right, I can handle an hour! I'm 2500 miles away at this point lol, so thats the easy part. My main concern is finding somewhere nice yet inexpensive. Im pretty basic and only need a room and a bathroom and im set lol.

North of Oceanside is San clemente.....Kind of a cool beach town with some decent rents. Camp pendelton seperates oceanside(on the south) and San Clemente (on the North) .

Gcats right about the base and border crossing traffic......If it were me commuting that route I'd at least live north in San clemente.....JMO.
San clemente is about 10-15 mins south of Mission viejo and 20-25 mind from irvine..... Mission viejo and Irvine are both fairly big citys, so it depends on what part you work in. your travel times could change dramatically.

I drive that commute every day and it's not that big of a deal. Camp Pendleton is a 17 mile long empty road with almost no exits and the checkpoint is rarely used. There is usually no traffic in the morning until you hit MV. Friday afternoons going south, especially during the summer or when there's great weather can be a pain, but otherwise, there is usually no slowdowns once you get past the El Toro Y
