SCION xA Build Off: Project S.E.R.T.
Posted: Wed Oct 18, 2006 12:22 pm Post subject: Scion LA xA build off - Project S.E.R.T
What do you do when the opportunity to get a Scion xA and some cash; and you can do whatever you want to it? That was exactly what Scion Los Angeles gave us with a couple of hookups from one of our long time SE supporter and friend Verone from Longo we had our Scion xA and the talk was VIP, Street, this that and every other theme any Import mag was sportin on the covers. Then like a flood light came on and the chatter became uniformed and “Scion Evolution Rally Team” was set in motion. Now most peeps seen the cars and know of it but here in the US it is not as main stream as NASCAR but has a following as we quickly found out that parts or pieces we not readily available or in some cases nonexistent. But that doesn’t stop SE plus “you can always modify something”; now comes the fun part going from the standard all show and no go to stripped down and ***** out.
On this project we had time restraints and a budget so with that in mind we stripped the xA down to its skivvies and took all that pretty stuff out and made room for the more important “stuffs” (TRD Paul reference) five key mods that immediately shouts out RALLY – Roll cage, OZ white spoke wheels, roof scoop, light pod and of course the graphics scheme our xA had to have them all no exceptions! So to get to the pictures I will spare you all the details about our build off for another post and let you all decide for yourself if the xA has potential as a offroad warrior? IMO love it or hate it will be talked about and that is all that we wanted to do is create a buzz and give everyone something fresh and exciting to look at. SE build team would like to thank Scion Los Angeles – Jeff Bal, Verone Panaligas from Longo the film crew and all that were involved to make this happen.
On behalf of the first “Scion Evolution Rally Team” (S.E.R.T) we are proud to present the first Scion Rally xA!!! (more detail write up and pic’s to follow)
Enjoy,

There are different classes of rally vehicles....not just 4WD or AWD.
FWD and 2WD cars are also used in rally.

GREAT JOB you guys! It was seriously a HUGE pleasure working with all of you and it would have never been half the event if it weren't for all the great people at S/E and Scinergy! Can't wait to do it again next year!
btw- Adrian, I'm glad you are real, and not a robot. 'Cause I don't know any other robots. Peace!

HAHA...there was an event at Knott's....
I was on a business trip on the East Coast so I don't know what you are talking about..
Seriously, mad props to you Jeff.
The event was so awesome.
I was talking to the folks from Scion Corp. and they were very impressed.
Looking forward to doing more events for the LA region in the near future.
Also..hit me up on my cell one of these days so we can do lunch.
Great job to all SE, Scinergy and everyone else involved for this event.

It seems like not all are aware that there are so many classes for Rally Racing. Most of the experience drivers have AWD vehicles. This text was copied from Nasa Auto Sport Association Rally Sport:
There is a class in rally for almost any type of production based vehicle. Generally you will find that the classes for higher horsepower and all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicles include the more experienced drivers and co-drivers. Vehicles in these classes are also much more expensive to prepare and maintain. These high horsepower AWD vehicles are not recommended as your first rally car. Vehicles in the two-wheel-drive (2WD) classes tend to be less expensive to operate. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) rally cars, without turbo charges are the cars best suited for the new driver and co-driver. These vehicles have good torque, are extremely forgiving of mistakes, easy to maintain, and definitely less expensive to sustain. Rear-wheel drive rally cars are considered to be the most difficult to drive, but are generally inexpensive to maintain.
There are three important facts to consider when selecting your first rally car and class:
If it is sitting in the driveway and is paid for, it could be a rally car
your first rally car will not be your last because...
there are those who have rolled and those who will!
For a complete list of car classes, refer to the NASA Rally Sport General Regulations.

Thanks for the save Tasha. I am xBRIANx, XcelsiA is small, but we do have more than the one member. Not quite 10 yet, but we're working on it.
*What edit?
