First off, the security system is a $500 (installed) option - did you get that option or do you just have the stock, included, remote entry system?
If you have the security system there is a red light located in the lower center of the dash, under the little trapdoor storage. If you don't have the Scion security, all three of those 'knock-outs' are probably blank - unless you have a foglight switch in the left one.

Sounds to me like you just have the keyless entry, no security system...

I just got the xB second owner and it does have the Red light in the lower center it reads "Scion Security" and it has what looks like a microphone.

OK. Sounds like you have the Scion VIP security system installed.
Just as a note, the Scion alarm on the xB does NOT honk or beep when it arms - the parking and marker lights flash once, the light at the bottom of the dash comes on steady for whatever delay you have programmed into the alarm, then the red light at the bottom of the dash begins flashing, indication the system is armed.
When the system is disarmed with the remote the parking anf marker lights flash twice, unless the system had alarmed since being locked, then it will flash three times.
There are other optional settings (see the manual) that will allow auto arming, etc.
I have mine set to auto arm 30 seconds after the last outside door is closed, just in case I forget. (This is also amusing with parking attendants and shop folks.) :D
Lemme dig up the PDF I made of the manual...
http://tijil.org/Manuals/xB_Alarm_Owner's_Manual.pdf
That should get you going.
Good luck, and welcome to the family! :D

thanks the security system works fine.. except for the glass sensor I try adjusting it but its not much more sensitive to sound you really have to hit the glass hard. So i'll try and see if i can add a shock sensor. I'll tinkel with it maybe later and get back if the shock sensor works well.
