So. Cal tC drive/cruise?
I posted this in the Pacific South forum's and only got one reply from someone who is down to do this. I didn't want to discriminate against other Scions so it is still open to all vehicles but since I drive a tC I thought I'd post it in here. I'll paste what I wrote in the P.S. forum below:
I"m fairly new to these forums and have seen a bunch of "meet" threads, but nothing about going for a cruise/drive through some canyons and what not in the so. cal area. I've seen some pretty cool pix and videos on "nasioc" regarding their meets and was hoping the so. cal chapter of SL holds a once-a-month type cruise/drive.
So, I'm wondering, do these things happen? Or are they kept more low-pro?
Anyone think this would be a cool/fun thing to do one Saturday or Sunday in November?

Cool pix from that huge meet, I'm not sure how big this one will get but lets try to lock down a date this week for sometime in November and make it happen! I like the idea of heading up to Malibu to Neptunes.

so this thread gave me the urge to go out and DRIVE!! I decided to do it by myself. Just me, my laptop, some GPS software, and no passengers to worry about.
The infamous Mulholland Drive and Mulholland Highway. Great twisty road that winds through normal residental areas of Hollywood all the way to the mountain roads of Santa Monica. All these years of living in Southern California, and i've never even completed the entire thing. So today i set out to drive it. Mulholland stretches from Universal City (where Universal Studios Hollywood is located) all the way west to the Santa Monica Mountains. The road actually stops in the middle with a dirt road that's only available for hiking, horseback riding, or non road vehicles. It then continues around Topanga Canyon Road and winds west til it hits Pacific Coast Highway. I decided to the entire route my own way...
I started my drive on Mulholland at the 101 freeway in Hollywood.

This is where i got off Mulholland and headed south on the 405 to Sunset Boulevard (yes the picture is northbound, i had to make a pit stop)

From Sunset Boulevard, i headed out to Malibu and up Pacific Coast Highway.

more Pacific Coast Highway. I decided at this point that i would drive Mulholland from West to East. So i drove ALL they way on PCH out to Decker Canyon Road.

Heading north up Decker Canyon was awesome. The road drastically changes from the beach of the Pacific Ocean to moutain roads with tight turns. Decker Canyon eventually hits Mulholland Highway. I turned right and headed east.

aww yeah

who does NOT belong in this picture? hehe.. WAY more motorcycles riding this road then cars that's for sure.

More Mulholland. It eventually hits Topanga Canyon Road which leads you back down to the ocean and Pacific Coast Highway.

The drive home along PCH.

The Santa Monica Pier and boardwalk.

GPS picture of the second half of the route i took. CLICK ON IMAGE FOR LARGER picture.

Great drive-report and pix DIESEL, looks like that could be a potential route for us! Would anyone object to that route? We could set up a few meeting points along the way and all meet at one final location before heading out.
Would the weekend of Nov. 18 & 19th work for most people? Either day works for me.
