Default Strange request for Los Angeles locals

This is a strange request, but I'd give it a go anyways.

I'll be visiting LA next month from 10/10/07-10/14/07

I'll be flying in so its odd to request to ask for assistance. *lol* But like I said its worth a shot.

I want to book a hotel but would like some input on which one to stay at which is realitively inexpensive, but close enough to the air port and other tourist attractions.

Any good dim sum place?

I'm Chinese and I can speak Cantonese fluently, if anyone wants to hang out or can recommend places to see/go that would be nice. Agian I don't have a car, I might have to rent one but I'll see.

PM or e-mail me if u can help me out with advice/suggestions, maybe a ride here or there.

Thanks

I'll be flying into LAX, as far as areas I want visit. Those you all listed are great, but I would have to start with things to-do that cost cheapest to expensive. Your personal recommendation?

Thanks

Disneyland is probably the most expensive. The LA County is fair is probably the cheapest. Super Autobacs can be the cheapest or the most expenisve.

Well a good neutral area would be the Disneyland resort area. if you are a AAA member you will save money on hotel rooms in that area. I suggest the desert inn in Anaheim. Directly accross the street from Disneyland and 1 hr away from Universal. 15 min from Superautobacs (lol....), 1hr and a half from Sea World, 30 min from Huntington Beach, 15 min to Knotts Berry Farm. So thats just me.

The reason why we are going to LAX is cause my gf is leaving to Taiwan. So thats why I am in the LAX (international airport) area, and since I don't have a car nor know the area I try to keep somewhat close to the airport and still be able to go see different things and have fun without spending awhole lot.

LA compared to Reno is huge... I can take the bus to get around town here with no problem when I have no car.

There is public transportation here, but it consists of all sorts of things like trains and light rail as well as buses. I would get on Priceline and see what you can get for a hotel.

I am on there as we speek. I am checking out Expedia, Orbitz, Etc. Packages are usually cheaper then just flight or hotel alone. I'm pretty much set as far as flight and hotel. Its just getting from hotel to popular tourist attractions.

If I have to rent a Hyundai Accent or something I will and hope I don't get lost. *lol*

Thanks for your inputs.

I know this great Chinese place in LA but my dad always takes me when I go to work with him. I'll try and find the place for you. Their food is godly! I think its around Little Tokyo.

I would stay away from D-Land, it's expensive even with discounts, and it's pretty cheesy.

Is there anything you actually want to see? There are these beautiful gardens around Pasadena or Arcadia (I forget which, haven't been back there in 10yrs) as well as the Huntington Museum which I hear is nice. LA has the nightlife, if thats what you like. Maybe stay around the Hollywood area, the nicer area of course.

Yeah, let me know if you find the name. Always gotta eat right? *lol*

I don't have anything that I do want to see. I am not big on rides, etc so thats why DLand isn't my 1st choice, at least not thrilled about going.

Um... just spend some time, try to get to know the area and if there is any local and inexpensive places I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks!
