Default Street Racer Mission Viejo = Game Over

OC Register:

An 18 yr old man was killed Friday, December 19th after his car flipped several times, then slammed into a light pole and tree during a street race with another car, police said.

The man has not been identified, Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Hal Brotheim said. The accident occured about 10:37pm at Olympiad Road near Jeronimo Road. Brotheim did not know which directions the cars were traveling or how fast they were going.

The 18-year-old Mission Viejo man had three passengers in a 2001 Volkswagen Jetter during the street race against a 17-year old driver in a 2008 Scion tC, Brotheim said. That driver's name was not released because he's a minor.

One of the passengers suffered moderate injuries, and the other two were not injured at all.

The collision remains under investigation

oh stop it. All of us have urges to speed and mess around with our friends on the freeways on occasion I've heard a lot of you talking about it. Tee, if you have a turbo, you will end up using it right? why just have it to drive 45 mph on Beach Blvd or 65 on the 5 fwy? No point. Why have an intake and exhaust for no reason. Why do you/we have it. Give your car some umff and get to a higher speed fast right? And its not thank you FFF, its the choice of those who end up catching bad luck and losing their life in the process. Every car enthusist likes to punch it or race from time to time.

I run every now and then on the fwys IF I feel up to it. I'm not going to lie.

I dont know if I had a turbo......man I would get buck wild bananas with it from time to time and test its abilities against ZO6's and whoever. Not gonna lie. Im just saying not everyone who says racing is dumb this and that, but has done their share of it.

Dont get me wrong its dumb and stupid, but we've all done it. It just takes that 1 time whether its cops, crashing, etc to stop us each from doing it again.

so since the jetta crashed and the driver died, that means this is a victory for the tc? whoo! way to go stupid kids! your friend may be dead but you won an illegal street race that nobody saw or cares about aside from those who knew the late jetta owner.

tC's have high insurance because young people own them and their inexperienced. An inexperienced driver wrecks for a variety of reasons, street racing being an incredibly minute portion of that.

Have you ever seen a high school parking lot after the bell rings? I'm amazed that people under 21 can still get licenses!

Getting pulled over for mods also has nothing to do with street racing culture. It's just an easy source of revenue for the city. There are more "illegal" parts for imports than domestics because the parts tend to be newer and haven't passed CARB.

Props to Kirby for keeping it real. I don't condone street racing, and the guy driving with three passengers was asking for something to happen, but I'd be lying if I said I never embarrassed an Sti or two on the freeway late at night when there wasn't any traffic...

I don't really care about races done at a track by tC's with I/H/E, so I don't see your point.

In fact, I don't really care about ANYONES race at a track unless you're packing some serious hp, have suprisingly low times, or whooped on some seriously fast times lol.
