Default TX owner needs suggestions from CA locals.

Whats up ya'll...

Well, i'm from Texas, (obviously) and my wife and I are planning on flying out to the Golden State for a little 3 day trip.

My main reason for wanting to go is to visit the Peterson Museum. So our trip would most likely base around LA.

We defintely want to make it a memorable weekend, but don't know what else there is to do....
I mean, I can go to the beach, and... um say "yep theres the ocean..." but then what?

So I'm hoping to get some great ideas from my SL breathern in sunny SoCal on what we should do.
My wife said she wants to see/do stuff that we couldn't see/do here.

I like car anything (not NASCAR ... like kustom car.... )
She likes artsy stuff. Music, Art, Senic views.... that sort of thing....

What do you reccomend as a absolute must see while in Cali?

Thanks in advance!

You can go the Hollywood and vine, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and see all the expensive ___ stores...I would go check out the beach , go to mans theater, and there is tons of museums you can go too

Probably in a month or three... we haven't decieded.

Probably gonna rent a car.
Cruise HWY 1 South...

I like the Peir 3 idea too...
I have to run this by her as well.
Whats the most fun thing to do at the beach? I can't surf or anything.
I'd love to go fish, but I think that would get vetoed....

well just to cruise around and enjoy the scenery would be Santa Monica Pier, Venice Boardwalk, and Santa Monica Pier then walk over to 3rd St Promenade. You can actually do all this in one day. Spend the day at Venice Beach and check out the street vendors and wierdos, then end the day at Santa Monica Pier and 3rd St for a nice dinner. The night life there is nice.

There is a lot to do here... but it really depends on where you're heading, and what you want to do.

If you're headed to Dallas Fort Worth area, I can probably steer you in the right direction.

Ok i'm narrowing down what we're doing....

If I were to cruise Hwy 1, where would I go?

North?
South?

What would be my destination for the cruise?

Would it be someplace I would want to spend the night?

Depends on what you want to see on PCH. I haven't been up above LA on the PCH, but if you go far enough you'll hit pretty scenery South towards Orange County you can hit the Long Beach Aquarium, Queen Mary, and other stuff.

I'd probably go to the Getty Museum, Giffith Park, definitely the beach like Santa Monica Pier (don't go to Venice..) and... Disneyland! JK on D-Land, way too expensive now! Definitely have to drive around Beverly Hills just to say you have

I have no idea what I want to see... it just sounds fun to take a drive along the ocean side, but i'd like a place to go to.... ya know?
So why don't we want to go to Venice?

Also, what is there to do at Griffith park?

Venice, when I was there with a girlfriend, was very creepy lol. It is kinda funny to see that every other shop is the same, and the weirdos that put on shows on the boardwalk lol.

Griffith has the observatory and its got a great view of the city at night. If you like the science sort of stuff it's a great place to just walk around and relax

When I drive on the PCH I don't stop.. lol. So I have no idea where is a good place to stop
