Default Un-correctable Fix-it-ticket BS / HELP

So I went to the station to get my fix-it-tickets cleared earlier today.

Both were for my headlights being yellow bulbs.

So I go into the station, tell the lady sheriff clerk person that I need to get
these two cleared. She comes outside, checks my lights, gives me an A-OK.
We then walk back into the station and she starts doing what she has to do
on one of the tickets (the whole signature + stamp crap) on the back.

Hands me that one and says,
"I can't do anything about this one."

I respond,
"Uhh, why not?"

She takes the other ticket and points to me why.
"This officer wrote it down as Non/un-correctable."

In return,
"Can't you just sign it off? It's the same exact ticket.
Yellow headlight bulbs."

Lady,
"Sorry, I can't. You're going to have to go to court for this one."

And she walks away and helps another person.

Someone told me that if I have to go to the courthouse for them to
actually check it out and blagh blagh, it's going to cost me about
100$ or so for the process fee. Is this true? If it is, this is total bullsh!t.
I'm probably going to fight it or whatever if it's more than 50$. That's
ABSURD just for headlight bulbs.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

you should fight it even if it is 3 dollars.

i would assume she couldn't clear you on if because of what the ticket said because she can't presume that officer didn't have a good reason for marking it un correctable. which would make sense if it was your second offense.

if the officer wrote you two separate tickets at the same time, one for each headlight, i would imagine that is ridiculous, so that leads me to believe that an officer told you to correct your headlights and you didn't and were ticketed a second time. in which case you are at fault.

Sounds like you were ticketed more than once for the same thing? If so, the officer may be trying to force you into court because he (rightfully) doesn't like people refusing to comply, and he figures making it expensive might get your attention.

(Have there been other fix-its before this, too?)

you said "That's ABSURD just for headlight bulbs. " well...having yellow headlights is absurd, especially if it is in conflict with the law. those laws are in place for safety reasons you know. harder to see things in the dark with yellow lights and it confuses other motorists as to what you are and what direction you are moving in, not to mention distracts, and makes you harder to see.

These were my first fix-it tickets ever.

I thought you had to go to the places where it says on the ticket and those
specific places are 80+ miles away from my home. I'm a full-time student and I
don't have time to drive that far just to get tickets signed off so I put off the
first one until finals were over. A week later, different officer, same thing.
I let him know my situation and he still wrote me one (the one that said
uncorrectable).

First of all, I can bet you that more than half of California residents don't
even know yellow headlights are illegal. There are A LOT of drivers out
there that run them. Come to California, and you'll see for yourself.
Second, yellow lights aren't absurd to me. I didn't ask for your opinion
on what you think about them and I'm not dumb either. I know the risks
but sometimes you gotta take them in order for some individuality among
the norm. I'm pretty sure more than half of the people here don't give a
rats **** if they are yellow. Live in Southern California and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Look up the vehicle code violation that the officer wrote on the second ticket. It's probably different. More likely a straight up fine, rather than a correctable safety violation.

wow, it seems like you should partake some 420 while listening to pink floyd's dark side of the moon, this should calm you down enough to realize that the nail that sticks up gets hammered.put the stock light back in it and go plead to the judge. Good luck!

It's not going to COURT COURT.

It's the same thing as the police station but at the court.

Dude, why did u put yellow lights? I was gonna do the same thing, but I read the laws............its yellow for the fogs only.

Since u have a tC, u should've used the yellows for the highs.............U know, stock on the outer housing and yellow on the inner beams...........????? I confused myself,

Go luck on fighting the ticket.

That's good for you.

And I'm referring to the tC scene only.

I don't appreciate it when people, especially out of state folk , that have no clue
about how our state works and how different the environment is compared
to theirs come in and post and talk to me disrespectfully as if I'm some idiot.

In return, I give no respect.

i was confused for a while because i saw so many people getting yellow headlights suddenly. i figured, maybe they changed the laws and haven't updated the CHP site. i was wrong, i called the CHP office to check and they said it wasn't legal. so i decided not to get the yellow bulbs or overlays.

the sad part is, yellow beams help you see in the fog or low light conditions better than white light. ESP in the fog. but...they are a distraction to other drivers that are on the road. besides, if the bulb doesn't have a DOT approval stamp on it, it is illegal.

sorry you got caught man

Folks, this has been covered many, many times, with specific details for different states, including California.

Read from the link forward, and go to the link referred to a few posts later.

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...035247#2035247

(Yes, I'm not from or in California, but the link I gave you above, and the thread it refers you to, specifically cover California. If you want Washington, here's that one: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...242287#2242287 if you want any of at least a half dozen states (CA, WA, NY, NJ, MD, PA, CO, FL, TX, OR, etc.), search. The answers really are here and it all boils down to the same FEDERAL rules that all the states require to be followed. This poor horse has been beat to death, then beat again - many times.)

Hope you can get this all taken care of without too much expense...

Tom

Ignorance of the law is never a valid excuse.
