Default Very discouraged!!!!

I read about people being pulled over, getting tickets, having to go to Refs and pretty much removing everything you put on just to pass ref and then put everything back on only to get popped again. Officials are cracking down everywhere in CA. I know a few Sheriffs and city PD and they actual have memos sent out to really enforce emissions laws and crack down on all modified cars. They are even having station wide training to identify illegal mods. Non one is safe, unless of course your a peace officer or CDCR which I hope to be If that happens then I'm modding to my hearts content!!! If not then I had all these plans for my car as I did my old DSM. I'm thinking it may not be worth it now a days. It just sucks to live in a STATE where pulling over car Enthusiast for spending there hard earned money is a priority over drugs, rapist, and murders. I might be going a different way with my car all together. I'm going for the full on suspension, I mean everything. Carbon hood, carbon trunk. Weight reductions with still being a daily driver. Light weight rims. I might throw on the SC just cause I can always say it is a dealer installed option!! Then Ecu Chips pretty much the less visible mods. I think if I get pulled over a few times in my car after it's painted and all the cosmetic work done and when they ask to pop the hood. The motor will pretty much be 100% stock except for the SC. It might throw them thinking "oh this guy got tons of illegal mods" then nothing. I'm sure if he's a ___ he would find something to write me up for but it would be easily fought in court. Well that's my 2cent and venting. Thanks for wasting your time reading this.

I wish companies out there would consider that a lot of
their customers and the area of most interest comes from
the state of California.

They should try to help US out by making parts CARB legal
and etc etc.

The car manufactures should also make street legal parts for the car. I mean big HP gain parts to make it easier to comply with local law and still have the power we want and NEED!!! At least make the car with legal modding in mind.

just make your car look stock as far as the engine bay is concerned.. no worries then, you can still mod happy and not worry about the cops.

that'd be awesome to see all these cars that are "all show and no go" cruisin' around getting pulled over by cops, and then seeing the cop leave with the feeling of defeat. then californian's may start thinking...
"why aren't our tax dollars going to catching real criminals?"
"why do they bother these people with nice cars instead of catching the guy up the street that has a meth lab in his garage?"
"what are our tax dollars really going to?" and maybe...
"is this the real reason why gas prices are so high?"

in fact, no that i think about it. it might be bad for the aftermarket companies though. i'm sure it wouldn't put them out of business, but...it'd put a big dent. maybe they would even start making carb legal products for us....that would be interesting. but, something like this would never happen...it's as far fetched as people boycotting gas for a day (everyone's up for it, but nobody ever does it)

When will the "F'in" cops stop picking on us car people? When!!!! I'm getting tired of this. I just feel like...............I don't know..................pick on the muscle cars for once, dang.

I wonder if there was a fully done up car with tons of illegal mods and a mass shooting at the corner.............I wonder which one the cop would go to...............get someone who might or might not kill people in a street race or get the person who IS killing people as each second passes? I wonder what the cop would pick..................

here's my favorite part though. why is it illegal when "choppers" and harleys are made to be loud. i know that they're exhaust breaks the stupid 95 dB law in california. and why don't i ever see those bikes with TONS of lighting on them getting pulled over. what is the discrimination for? why is there not a limit of how high your truck can be raised when raising the truck clearly makes it more risky than a car that's lowered (because the center of gravity makes the truck easy to tip)

i'm quickly getting tired of a state which has laws that are selectively enforced. especially when they say on the news that they are specifically targeting lowered cars with mods

I used to have a 96 Civic 4 door. It was lowered with Nuespeed springs and had an apexi dunk exhuast. And that was it. One day I was sitting at a light on Miramar Rd. and there was a cop across the intersection. The light turns green and we pass each other. I look in my rear view and see the cop turn around, huh oh. I don't know what I did, but I know he is coming for me. When he flips on his lights behind me I pull into some parking lot and turn off my engine. He asks for the usual and goes back to his computer. I have a clean record so I am not worried. He comes back and asks if I know why he pulled me over. I say no I do not. He replies my car is too low! I was excited, this is my first official ricer ticket. I saw oh and says he has to measure and i ask can i watch. He lets me so I get out and he's all confident that my car is 18.5" off the ground to middle of headlight bulb. He busts out his tape measure and gets 19.25". Haha small victory for me! Still too low but He was wrong, I feel better. Then he asks me if I can pop my hood so he can look for any other illegal mods. i say sure, I reach in and pull the hood release. Walk around to the front of the car and open my hood, I couldn't even get the hood prop in before he said I can go ahead and close it. I swear he sounded bummed. I really had a bone stock engine. The only non stock think in there was the tach wire that went to my remote start of my alarm.

I have heard that they are now trained to spot SR swaps in 240s and even 20v in Corollas!

Sometimes I hate California, but when it's 70 degrees and sunny in the middle of January, I feel better.

There is one, I can't remember for sure, but it has something to do with the bumper height. I saw a couple lifted trucks in a magazine that had double bumpers for just that reason.

Exactly.................there are Motorcycles, even muscle cars, that are twice as loud as any of the import cars, and yet they ignore them cuz Its "american."

I feel like we are being segregated, .......but seriously, we are. All the American stuff gets sided by while the "colored" ones, (aka, imports, US) are being ticketed for dumb stuff like loud exhaust or just a coffed can, lowering, etc.

F the cops. 2morrow, I'm going to give them the finger.............we should do a protest. If they are going to ticket us, ticket everyone else with tinted windows, lift, and american muscle and bikes. U'll get more money like that, .

TAC.............Tuners against cops...............

I'll continue more 2morrow..........I have dinner waiting for me, .

i totally agree with you tea....it seems to be that they pick on the tuner car community because we "just aren't cool sounding or looking". the cops see choppers, muscle cars, and lifted trucks and think that it's cool....they see one lowered car and it ruins their day and have to take it out on us. totally sux!!!

Someone a long while back posted an actual video used by the police to train on what to look for and how to handle a stop.

don't be discouraged..just say thanks to all the idiots who do drive imports that do stupid sh*t like street racing, burnouts in parking lots, etc. don't get me wrong...i see TONS of american cars do the same thing, but it's the imports that get caught. hence why cops totally target imports.

NOT ALL cops hate on imports, i actually have friends that are in LAPD that have fixed up imports. some of them have authentic JDM RHD vehicles. one time, my homegirl and i got pulled over in her hatchback civic that i fixed up, and one of the cops was telling us that she had a clean civic and that he drove a STI that he's also fixing up.

The thing about cops that own a import is they never have to worry about tickets. No matter what they say or people think. You have a badge you are above the law. My ex GF's brother got pulled over with no insurance, and suspended liscense. He pulled out his dad's card City PD won't say which one. The cop said well have your dad come pick up the car. He also said I hope another cop does that for my kid someday. If it had been almost anyone else Guaranteed county jail and a tow. My other friend is Sheriff and straight out said. Let me run your car real quick as long as I got my badge I'm cool.
