Default 2007 Fall High School Drags Post FINALLY!!! 9.23.07 KCIR

Kansas City International
Raceway 8201 South Noland RD
Kansas City, MO 64138
www.kcir.net

Gates open at 8 a.m.

Of course the first 25 Scions/Scion Owners are free! Any guests (passengers) will have to pay the $15 track entry. Keep reading if you don’t plan on being one of the first 25.

I want everyone to come out and everyone to have a fair chance at winning stuff. So we will be doing raffles instead of car show prizes.

Due to this being a Show and Shine, I was able to allow all Scion owners to get free entry before 10 a.m.!!! This will relieve some of the stress of waking up at 6 a.m. on a Sunday! Hopefully this will encourage more owners to come out and show their stuff. It will be more social than competition. So tell everyone you know to come and just hang out. I promise we won’t JUDGE anybody (because there won’t be any judges)!

Meal tickets will be provided for Scion Owners as well.

Don't forget your helmets because there will be a Scion only racing class!!!

We will have raffle prizes, Scion giveaways, and more!
-Various Scion Diecast models
-8 count them 8 $25 Best Buy Gift cards!
-iPod Nano 4GB with video (http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/)
-$250 Gift Certificate from JMI Signs (they do body graphics)
-and some other stuff....

I am getting some shirts made to so most people will get one of those

DJ ATAXIC will be doing his thing with his two turntables and a microphone. If you have never heard of him he is really good.

More info will be coming as soon as I get it.

Shayn, I just saw your post right after I got off of the phone with Terry. He is ordering the shirts for me so I told him to get girl shirts if he can.

<noob>
The "High School" part of the title confuses me. Why is that significant?

Because a ton of high schoolers come out and race, everyone out of high school is in the alumni class.

So there's just an "in high school" and "out of high school class" for the drags then?

Also, can anyone recommend where to get a good helmet?

I'll try to bring a couple extra brain buckets if I can remember.

If you want to purchase one for yourself there are lots of options online and such, but I would highly recommend going somewhere that you can try them on first.

You get what you pay for with helmets, but okay ones can be had for around $100.

I don't know what kind of helmet i need, i don't understand the ratings and such...

I want to be able to AutoX, and crash into the sidewall during the 1/4 mile.

Okay, this is mildly related to the topic and may be of benefit to some other folks here so I'll jack the thread a bit.

Helmets have two different sets of ratings, D.O.T. and Snell. A D.O.T. rating means very little actually. Basically, it's more than decorative and will do you some good in an accident, but should not be used for racing and expected to save your life.

Snell ratings are much more stringent and actually have years and grades attached to them. Snell ratings are updated every few years (every five actually IIRC) and last I checked they had both "M" and "SA" ratings. The "SA" rating is the higher of the two and was always the rating required by the SCCA for their events back in the day.

Any Snell rating is good and I actually won't buy a helment that is not Snell rated. Those that are will always be advertised as such and will have a decal on the inside of the helment advertising the rating and year (usually attached to the foam, not the liner, you may have to move the liner aside to see it properly).

Full-face helments are usually safer than open face, but you can find Snell rated open face helmets too (my wife has one).

Generally speaking, a safer helmet is a more expensive helmet, but the classic argument goes: "How much is your head worth to you?"

A good helment is always a good investment.

For pricing ideas check out denniskirk.com. They carry a huge variety of helmets and you can see what you're up against price-wise.

I'll be happy to show you what the decal looks like in my own helmet at KCIR where we will all be having fun supporting our man CARTMAN!!!

East Ham = West Beef = South Pork = CARTMAN!!

See y'all there!
