All Scion Show 5 - PICS (56K LOL)
Remember that sometimes something very small can make or break your chances at winning, since judging is subjective it could even be what you say about your car to influence if they circle a 5 or a 6 on something. That could make all the difference sometimes.
You all looked good as hell out there. I would be embarrassed to compete against most of your cars in any sort of judging competition. You all did it up right and it was very difficult to be harsh in judging you.
Can't wait to see you all at another show that I am NOT JUDGING! lol!
Had a great time, by the way . . . Scotty Seeba really is the King of Japan, he had a billboard, clothing line and a type of sake in his honor! ;)

you all need to f'n relax! I walked away with a 3rd place trophy which never happens, but I'm not crying and _____ing about it! like my wife said... we went to see old friends, and meet new people! that's what shows are all about! it was an awesome show and we had a great time, so trophies or not, we'd do it again!!!
Clay and his wife had some badass rides as usual. If you other people are really that butthurt by the judging, then I would in turn ask you how long youve been in the Scion game? I have been since 03, and I know guys like Shorberg and Brett know just as much as I do. Theyre the really motherfreaking OGs of the midwest. I trust their judgement.
If you dont like it, learn to clean your car and stop your _____ing.
PS- JDM suckzzooooooors. How was your trip fellas?

Damn nice pics from my white boy motherland! Haha.
I cant wait to see the rest. I tell ya man, I think you are officially more JDM than me now that youve been to the land of the rising sun. Were there any bBs that were more JDM dirty than my two-tone?

We didn't see any of the new models or concepts for Scion while in Japan. I thought we would, but no such luck.
What we did instead was meet with some very influential Japanese execs and engineers and tour some of Toyota's extensive history. It has given me a much deeper understanding about why things are the way they are with our company and how it will progress in the future.
Also, we did not eat any pie.

The whole show was a farce. Friends giving friends trophies. Nice clean cars getting squat compared to cars being put together with zip ties at the last minute getting first. the xB with 22's had more swirl marks, orange peel, and runs in the paint than any one of us could keep track of, and it get's first place? WTF? Only because he comes year after year. And you say the judges were rough? More like blind. A car with nothing more than lambo doors, chrome wheels, and a wall of subs is the best car at the show. Don't think so. I saw quite a few more that were more deserving. And a $600 set of wheels with Fake A$$ carbon fiber inserts are the best wheels there? NO FREAKING WAY! Mine, the 22's, or the Focals on the tC next to mine, which were blindingly shiney, were all WAY better than those things. I am not mad because I didn't win, I'm mad because it was unfare to ALOT of the guys there with more time, effort, and money invested and got squat. RIGGED ALL DAY!
Don't get me wrong, had a good time, and enjoyed meeting all of you. But the judging was not up to par, at all. DOnt' think most of them knew what they were looking at. I saw them asking several other entrants questions about their cars, I never even got spoken to. And with all my rare parts, I should have probably been asked the most questions.

Wow Tim, I thought you had fun. Guess I had that wrong. I thought we did everything we could to be hospitible to everyone that made the effort to show up.
I know many people there had rare parts on their cars that might not be noticed by everybody. That's why you were encouraged in the rules to present your cars when they came around. Its why I made the judges travel together so each contestant didn't have to hang with their car all day.
The rules for judging my show are always posted ahead of time and are made available at the event. They are pretty straightforward.
I know people will have problems with any show. Its part of being judged. I do take exception to the notion that the show was in any way rigged. It most certainly was not. There was no bias based on club affiliation (or lack of it) or on prior relationships.
If you don't believe me Tim, ask Scotty. He's known me since he's been in with Scion and he will tell you I run a clean show.
I appreciate the effort you made to come, but I won't let an accusation like that slide when I bust my ___ to put together this show each year.
Sorry if anybody felt slighted at the show. I do my best and that's all I can do.

To say the show had favoritism or any other bias is kind of ridiculous in my opinion. JDM parts may not be given full credit on first glance, Ill give ya that. You just have to make sure you stand by the car, explain, and let them know the importance of such items. Ive known Alex and he's been a damn good friend since 2004. Same club, much of the same events, hell we even cruised out to CO to show once. If anyone should be getting trophies on the basis of favoritism, it would have been me! Haha. Alex runs a clean show and worked his ___ of to make sure it came together. He doesnt need to plan year round to make sure us 60 owners can come chill on his lot for free, eat food for free, and accommodate us. Plus, it's not like one club took it all, it was spread throughout. I know Brett and Scott fairly decently, and Ive NEVER known them to play favorites or be shady. Honest and legit guys. I give them thanks 100 times over for taking time to judge and hang out that day. Major props to Alex for putting on this show. I hope people see the equality in it all, and if they dont, oh well. I had a damn good time.
